Worst signing of the season

Agree with supercrystal7 about Ozil he was never gonna push Arsenal to the title he's only as good as the players in front of him and he's missed having midfield runners. We've all seen what a difference Aguero makes to Silva's game

You what. Aguero's been out for how long. Take a look in the player of the month thread.
How the CP idiot can compare Ozil's season to David Silva's is beyond me.

It's my fault looking back I missed out the word FIRST, which I have now added. Silva has clearly had the better season this year, but I think Ozil's first season in the Premiership was better than Silva's first and he was playing in the weaker team with fewer players to help his style.

I'm not comparing their seasons just saying they're similar type players that are more likely to assist than score so need good finishers and midfield runners we have Yaya, Nasri, Navas and Negredo.
At Real Madrid Ozil was amazing he's not turned bad overnight. Even Silva would find it hard playing with Santi Cazorla Rosicky and Giroud upfront because they would just get in each other way. Using the transfer fee as a stick to beat him with is stupid he didn't force Arsenal to break their transfer record for him. Considering he wanted to leave and Real Madrid had enough players to cover Arsenal shouldn't have paid that much but as usual Arsene panics late in the transfer window.

Everton have improved too. Arsenal also actually got a tough CL group for once, which took a lot out of them. They may have got top 4, but considering how close things are without him that's only a maybe, but no way they get past Liverpool or Everton without him in the cup. No way they get through their group either. From being a good season, providing they progress and assuming they win the cup, without Ozil it would have been a disastrous season

Mate if you honestly think that signing Ozil was to cement 4th place and get them out the group stage then fair enough, but I honestly think that if you asked a lot of Arsenal fans they'd say they expected more from him given his price tag and reputation
What do you think is fair for him considering the Arsenal squad? Is it so bad if they win the FA Cup and go out to Bayern. Is his season worst than SIlva's ( in a weaker team mind you)? We will agree to disagree.

City, Chelsea and United all have better squads for me than Arsenal. Liverpool are behind them, but had no distractions.

All I can say is I would be very happy if Ozil left Arsenal in the summer no matter the fee.

So where in this statement am I to derive that you meant Silva's first season. Sorry to call you a fool I was
being churlish.

Yeh I apologise for that. I have edited both post. I did not realise I had missed out FIRST until I went and checked. I have edited both post and it's my fault. It would be crazy in my opinion to suggest Ozil had been better than Silva this year. However, the point I was making is that Ozil in my opinion has been at least and probably better than Silva in a weaker team during their first full seasons. If Ozil continues to play like this next season then he has been a flop, but like Silva and many others I don't expect he will.

among all the crap they sling at city for our spending, I was amused to hear a scouser bragging that Rodgers has spent nothing...

the facts tell me he spent over 50 million on 7 players in the summer, and not one of them have featured much this season, apart from Kolo who was free, and was dropped after a few characteristic clangers....

Kolo Touré Manchester City Man City free transfer
Luis Alberto Sevilla FC Sevilla FC 7.040.000 £
Iago Aspas Celta de Vigo Celta de Vigo 7.920.000 £
Simon Mignolet Sunderland AFC Sunderland 9.328.000 £
Aly Cissokho * Valencia CF Valencia CF 880.000 £
Mamadou Sakho Paris Saint-Germain Paris SG 16.720.000 £
Tiago Ilori Sporting Lisbon Sporting 7.260.000 £
Victor Moses * Chelsea FC Chelsea 1.056.000 £
