As a football spectacle Italia 90 was awful.

Its funny you say this, i've read a few articles saying similar things... But as a teenager I remember Italia 90 as having drama from start to finish... From Cameroon beating Argentina in the first match, Schilatchi, Platts last minute goal v Belgium, Argentina dumping Brazil out, Rijkard spitting at Voller, Riger Millar, Mathaeus, Cameroon v England, Waddle and Pearce penaties, Maradonna crying like a baby at the end of the final.... Each to their own I guess...

I agree with that. Can't get into this world cup at all, its seems more artificial than usual, even more so than Japan and South Korea '02.

its really pants at the mo...the ball is shite,the fooking vuvuvuvuv whatever, are really annoying,the football is shite,no atmosphere,teams not wanting to lose,poor poor games that are sending me to sleep.....only half decent effort so far was the krauts!!,and i wonder why?? welll they have had the ball for a season,unlike us who turned it down........ffs you couldnt make it up!

im prepared to hang on in there though,in the hope it will get better,as the games come faster an more important, the refs are really worrying me though ,that one at the italian game last night just couldnt give a fook....haha,whereas all the others are card mad!!

I asked if it could turn out to be the worst.

So far, I defy anyone to describe it as anything but utter shite.

I don't think it is shite at all. I am enjoying it whilst still maintaining a hatred of vuvuzela's which have been around for less years in RSA than "happy slapping" has been around here.

Could this be it? Early days yet I know, but so far... negative tactics, no flair, no great goals, fcuking vuvuzelas, a beach ball, grounds not full, only one good team performance.

Just not getting in to it at all :-(

Barely started and Germany, Korea and Argentina played very well

Grounds have largely been full. I remember some empty grounds at the Euros in 96

I'm enjoying it very much. A good World Cup needs a couple of outstanding teams. So far Germany could be one, and yet to see Spain and Brazil

has been poor so far. i have watched every single game and teams are being very negative lus we havnt seen all that much quality. still there is plenty of time left and i hope to see a lot of drama. lets bare in mind that so far the losing side has yet to score so far and to be honest i can see the run continueing with new zealand today.

TBH the only game I have actually enjoyed was Germany v Australia. Of what I've seen, the rest have been a bit turgid to say the least. I hope it picks upa notch or three because the tourney needs it IMO.

I think everyone is worried about losing their first game so are over cautious and would rather play for the draw. The second round of fixtures should be better, I hope!!
