I don't think that's necessarily true at the very top end, with wages spiralling to such ridiculous levels. If one club offers Bale £160k a week and another offers 'just' £150k a week, he will still choose the one that he sees as being the best fit for him, whether that's the manager, fellow players, existing system, chances of success, location etc etc.Pam said:NQCitizen said:bluemoondays said:+1 - United tactics are ideal for Bale, we just don't play like that and why would he want to join a club who doesn't use wingers when he is one of the best wingers in Europe (on current form).
He's clearly more effective through the middle though and potentially we could offer him a role behind the striker that Rooney currently fills at united.
I still think he'd pick United though.
Footballers sign for whoever is willing to pay them the most. There is virtually no exception to this rule. This cult of Rag is a figment of their arrogant, delusional imaginations.
When you also consider the huge amounts they now earn off the pitch (especially the top players like Bale), that £10k a week becomes even more irrelevant in the overall decision-making process.
