Would Kinkladze get into this side?

During his day the team was that poor that the only thing worth watching on a match day was a Kinky run or an odd flick that brightened a crap day. He was in my opinion a shining light in a poor team but my question would be "how many good games did he really have"? or good halves? Newcastle at home was his best for me, Oxford away? i think he was found out a little at Ajax. Perhaps City was the right place at the right time. in answer to the OP, its a no from me im afraid.

To be fair, he was signed by Ajax as Jari Litmanen's replacement as he was off to Barcelona but that deal fell through. Kinkladze found himself either on the bench or played out position on the left wing.

I remember Liverpool being interested in him towards the end of the 95/96 season. He should have gone there. Better team, better players around him and that would have meant players like Quinn, Curle, Lomas and Coton wouldn't have had to leave to balance the books following relegation.

He had no pace though.

Made up for it in sheer bulk. Forwards had to dribble an extra mile to get round him, nothing ever over the top apart from his back 'eaders, a colossosus!!
He never played for England though, he can't have been that good ;)

Would he have ever wanted to have played for England? Just look at the times the old GPC was linked with the England job. Never been able to understand why Scots have some mental block when it comes to Englalnd!!

No mention of Maurizio Gaudino. Twice the player Silva is and could do you a nice deal on a luxury sports car to boot!

Another kinkladze wank fest thread. He was a shining light in a poor side, often lazy as well. He did not really get caught out at Ajax as he was played out of position. Would he make this team, No

+1

I think it's nearly impossible to know this. Back then there was room to get by on talent alone. These days the mold is cast differently. Players know they have to work hard or they won't be picked, breeding an era of players who are far more professional. Do you think Ronaldo (Tranny) would have worked as hard as he does in Kinky's era? Or Giggs? There are no George Bests in the modern game. Kinky would either have stepped up or he would have disappeared as an academy player.
