I believe he was a retired GP - about 72, I agree with them, so I doff my metaphorical hat to them (probably a trilby). They are not doing it for fun, no point trying to de-carbonise, if we just let all the energy, seep through our very leaky roofs and walls. As a cheerful aside;

I’m interested in the Green debate and think these issues are the most important thing going on in the world.
But these cunts do this whole cause no good whatsoever. They alienate the argument away from the general public’s interest as all they do is piss people off, and make the rest of the public think that people interested in Green issues are all just wankers like these work shy knob heads.
We aren’t, by the way! Most of us who are bothered about Green issues are fully against these twats protesting in this way. They are going to change absolutely fuck all by doing this.

Until people’s convenience is classed as a basic human right we need to protect them as much as possible. I think it was Matthew who said blessed are the self interested.

The Insulate Britain have a point, but a shit way of getting it across.
Insulate a building and it's insulated for life.
I don't know how much poor insulation contributes to global warming (and I don't just mean escaping heat making roofs warm for the birds), but it's something we can do immediately. We have the insulation materials and don't have to wait for new technologies to be developed as we do with so many other things discussed at COP26.

If you want your house, and your neighbours house, and your neighbours nieghbours house insulating, get a fucking job, earn some money, go to B&Q, buy some insulating material and get the job done. Or you could cause a shit load of grief for the general public, piss everybody off, hold your hand out and expect someone else to do it for you.

They all have a point and with fuel costs going through the roof ( No pun intended) it would be wise to do so. Trying to force people to do so by pissing them off though will never work. Also people are probably fed up to the back teeth of others dictating how they should live. Coming on the back of all the covid rules and restrictions I would say it's a bad time with people trying to get back on their feet and recover some normality in their lives. As for the government they are probably rubbing their hands with glee as they and their mates will probably make millions out of doing all the climate change work needed. Kerching!

So you're suggesting they spend their money on insulation material rather than transport to protest sites and glue? And possibly fines if they ever get convicted.
They do not have a point. If it’s worth doing people have already done it. No one likes pissing money away or feeling cold if they can help it. Much of it has been paid for by everyone in their electricity bill via the green levies. There are already limits on how insulated a property must be before it can be rented out. Every house sold must have a report on energy performance made available to potential buyers.
As you say, the stuff is available. It is subsidised. People know about it. So what is the point of blocking roads and wasting everyone’s time?! The only reason is because they are nobheads who want to show how much better they are than everyone else.
I don’t drive but if they ever try block a road near me they’ll be getting a slap.

If that's the case then I'm surprised nobody has been out disputing their claims.
I'm aware of energy/insulation requirements for letting and selling and I'd expect legislation to be in place to cover new builds. I was assuming they were referring to older domestic properties and possibly commercial/industrial buildings.

The numbers quoted are 25 million properties need to be insulated properly(properly being the operative word) I think I read only 20 % of houses by 2050 will be new builds.
The poster saying a lot would have already been done is talking out of their arse which is the norm tbh. Basically people don’t want the hassle of any of it. Protests, the hassle of changing the way they live, the extra tax. They are happy to destroy their enviroment because it’s not theirs to own and by the time it crumbles they will be dead.
Think of them as dead head renters who shit on the carpet before they hand back the keys.

Thinking about my house - previously I have had two occasions when energy companies, were running subsidy schemes to insulate the walls. On both occasions (different energy companies), the survey was done, and the house confirmed as being suitable. Paperwork completed.
When the installer's arrived, I was fobbed off with reasons why they could not do the job. I can't remember the first excuse, but the second one was a corker...
I need to knock a hole in your wall to fit a flue/vent, as you have an open aired gas fire and that the insulation could cause carbon monoxide poisoning, I tried to tell him that the fire had some sort of cut/off device on it. He then went off to phone his supervisor, came back and said unless he could make a hole for the flue/vent thingy, then he could not insulate the building - as he would be liable, If anyone died in my house.
As the walls had been recently plastered/painted - I declined his offer. I later spent a lot of time and effort getting the manufacturers of the gas fire to confirm, that he was talking a load of bollocks.
