Would you give up the Carabao Cup

The prize money is tiny but Carabao pay much more to the League to sponsor the competition & they would want that returning. I can't imagine the EFL will be awash with cash any time soon, can you?

Its all a bit academic to me, I was just riffing with my post and I’m not that bothered really. Having said that, I would be interested how much Carabao give to the league in other ways.
Their prize money for winning a game in the comp is peanuts, especially compared to the FA Cup for example. Win your 3rd round FA Cup game and you get more than for winning in the final of the soft drink cup.

It’s non CV related, but my view is that having so many full time pro teams in England is unsustainable anyway, and I think more would have a better future as semi professional.

If the league is made void I assume all records for the year are gone ie Aguero goals , Eric Garcia's appearances , Edersons sending offs , our penalty misses etc. Would anyone be happy to have our Carabao cup win made void just to see Liverpool lose out on the premier league. I think I'd prefer to see Liverpool win the league than to see Shearer smiling as he realizes he still has the most hat tricks in premier league history
Separate competitions. It would not be "the whole season" void, just competitions that could not be concluded. Unless of course the other clubs lobby to stitch us up... I'd just tell them we're not giving the cup back (if they say we didn't win it, we wouldn't have it, would we?) They may not need it back anyway, the virus will see off the League Cup.

The first deal for 2026-19 was for £16 million and last year it was extended to 2022 but the amount wasn’t disclosed. I can’t imagine the EFL will be in a position to pay back this years amount very easily.

No, over the three seasons but I assume it is higher this time. Even if it isn’t the EFL won’t be in a position to shell out.

I don’t disagree with that, but even so, £5.3 million a year spread across the whole football league is still a small time contribution in my view for sponsoring one of only 3 domestic prizes up for grabs each year in the country’s No 1 sport.

We have won the Carabao cup fair and square , we took it seriously whilst other clubs took the piss , ironic that the media especially the BBC are campaigning for the league to be completed so the Dippers can have their title , but the cups that the Dippers can no longer win are hardly mentioned. Getting sick and tired of this Dipper love-in, the BBC resembles the Anfield wrap or Redmen TV , dont the BBC realise that 99% of our footballing nation more than likely despise the Red Shite , they got us all banned from europe for five years , that will never be forgotten of forgiven or swept under Auntie Beebs carpet.
