Alway liked the red and black away kits. But a red home kit, i'd sooner pop my eyeballs with a toothpick than see us walkout at homegames in such an abomination.

Also loads of teams wear red..Can only think of us, Napoli and maybe Marseille? that wear sky blue? National teams not included.

Even before that we used to play in maroon quite often. See also the 1956 and 1934 cup final strips. It's part of our history, like it or not.

Modern day kits are way too fancy for me, not that I'm an old bastard, but I think teams should be obliged to either do full color, horizontal stripes or vertical stripes. and choose max two colors. and no fading colours and all that sh**. My favorite non City kit will always be the black & white stripes of Juventus. (Not the Newcastle ones however similar they were, but they used to do fancy collars, not to mention that hidious brown ale logo on the front!) Pure class:


Finally, I also think teams should be obliged to select maximum 3 colors for all their kits and cannot be changed every year. Just 3 colors for all your kits. And just a home and away kit, no 3rd or 4th kit or whatever, that's commercial, useless crap. I'll stop my rant now.

Its dead easy decision now,but if you rewound the clock and we were going out of business and playing in red meant the club kept going it would have been a difficult question.

Me too, SWP.

The red and black is an iconic kit among many City supporters of a certain vintage - it was the first away strip I remember - and we won both the League Cup and ECWC in 1970 wearing it.

I would have it as the away kit every season if it were up to me.

As to changing the home kit to red.

No it isn't. I rather support City being a conference side.
If hypothetical it stays Manchester City and the kit turned red (or any other colour), I'd stop visiting matches, stop watching them, stop reading articals that behold pictures etc. I would just listen to radio commentary or read the latest score on a live scoresheet on the internet. Whatever to be able and visualize us playing in skyblue.

Interesting points ,but other fans such as Leeds blue to white crystal palace white,maroon blue,red and Cardiff blue,red and probably many more have changed colour and fans have carried on going,probably we would all go if push came to shove.
We have done exactly the same with Melbourne city changed them from red to white to sky blue next season
