'Wow' Moments in Video Games

Off the top of my head;

Driving backwards in Indianapolis 500 and watching the whole grid smash into each other. The handling was brilliant, too.
Physics puzzles in HL2
Doom, specifically the viewpoint bobbing up and down as you moved

And I'd say the amazing yet completely believable twists and turns and astonishing details in the 'story' of my 400 year game of Medieval 2, but that was more of a long series of amazing events, rather than a single 'wow'.

How many times does Rachel Reeves need to mention "exploitative zero hours contracts". No matter what your opinion is, the audacity to keep using the term when nearly 70 Labour MPs hire staff on zero hours. The only thing apart from that she mentioned is that she is going to tax the hell out of you. Tax tax tax tax...

Gears of War 3 - Kicking the shit out of Poseidon at the start

Final Fantasy 7 - Too many to mention

Uncharted 3 - Jumping out the plane in the desert

The Last of Us - Purely for the entire story.

God of War 3... ;)

A few of my "Wow" moments are audio.
In the early 90's I pestered my dad for a Sega Megadrive and eventually bought me an imported Genesis. The console had a headphone socket which made music/sound fx sound amaxing. It had me open jawed the first time I heard "Powwwwweeeerrr Uuppp" whilst playing Altered Beasts.
Megablast by Bomb the Bass on the Commodore Amiga. Great track and a cracking scrolling shoot 'me up to boot.
Another one was the PS1 version of FIFA 98 (I think) Song 2 by Blur, amongst others, was on it and was the first time I can remember a game having a selection of new music on it.
Reading this back my selection looks a bit boring compared to some others.

I'm not a game fan to be honest though my lads are never off them

I have finished one game in my life as it seemed likes the mutt's at the time, Metal Gear Solid

I can't be arsed any more with them though the graphics now are amazing

Was that on the dreamcast?

I was showing my two 7-year-olds this on youtube at the weekend, as they spent a couple of hours playing lots of different games on my iPad, and then asked what iPad games I used to play when I was their age.... giving me an opportunity for a bit of a "when I was your age..." ramble, that resulted in me looking up ZX81 games (from when I was 8).

I remember this was astounding when I was 8. Seeing as this was when there were only 3 channels on telly, to suddenly be able to plug a little black box into your TV and play a game in 3D in which a dinosaur appears was incredible!!
