2nd place and winning FA Cup should see him rightly safe, i think our European adventure will have to last longer next season for him to secure his job though.

I tend to agree, if he wins the Cup he will be safe for another season, investment in summer and Qualification to the knockout format of CL are a must!

The way the Cup is panning out, we are going to have to either play United in a semi or final, unless Everton upset that equation.

Either way, this notion we will redeem our season is still a long shot.

I could see Mancini at Milan or Paris if things don't fall ours and his way.

It's our destiny this year.

Man United in the cup final. Win that one, lose the league to them.

Mark my words.
Fergies swan song hopefully, he retires and Mourinho goes to the dark side.

First off, I want Mancini to stay long term, that's how I see a prolonged success and not a Chelsea situation.

But, it's fairly obvious to me the only way bobby will still be here at the start of next season is if we retain the league.

New board, he obviously didnt want to sell Mario even if he understood the reasons, the summer window, the window just closed, the contract situation at the end of last season although he got a new deal and a few other bits. I don't think a second place and fa cup win would save him.

I hope I am wrong. I don't want to get in to a situation where if you don't win the league and or champions league we change manger but I fear that's the future.

I'd be very surprised if he is here next year. Shame really and hope I am wrong.
I don't feel that whatsoever. In fact, I feel the opposite. Mancini will be given time to rectify on a season without a trophy, if, of course, we don't win one this season.

I don't see Wilfried Zaha as a Mourinho signing, do you?

Ferguson doesn't trust anybody but himself to try and see us off.

Win the Treble (and that aint fucking happening) then you might see him step down.

He wins the Double and there's more chance Mourinho coming here.

Our owners do not seem the type to give a manager a contract then sack him a year later. I would be amazed and sad if Mancini was not our manager next year. The only way his job may be reviewed is if we do not finish in the top 3

Utd have had a freak year, record points tally and a lot of luck and as even Barcelona showed, you can't win the league every season. As long as we are challenging for it right to the end of the season is fine with me.

Just learn from our errors of last summer in the market and we will be more than fine with Mancini next season

Isn't there a financial side to it as well? How much would it cost the club to sack Bobby with two years remaining on his contract?

There's no "hopefully" about that scenario. It's my worst nightmare.

-- Fri Feb 01, 2013 12:26 pm --

Not a great deal.

I'd estimate £8m.

The sale of Balotelli would cover that and we'd still be £12m up.
