WSL Brighton (H).12/11/23:

Seems that we have fallen out of form too rapidly. Slow play is a Taylor trademark, we are 1 down and there is no urgency at all, they seem stuck in the programme of slow, pass it back play. Yui looks nowhere near the player she was last season and - even though some will disagree I find Kelly incredible wasteful and you can see some players not even bothering to make runs because they don't get the pass from her. Jill looked far from interested today which is not a good sign. Let's be honest Brighton have not had to do that much to keep us out.
I do disagree about Kelly but agree about everything else. Some of the balls to Hasegawa today were 50-50 at best and she did well to keep possession.
Brighton moved the ball quickly for their goal and had a player in the box to get on the end of the cross. We generally had several around the edge of the ball to pas the ball between ourselves. Very frustrating.

I can't understand why he won't move Hasegawa up the pitch!

I don't understand why Kelly is an automatic starter.

And I don't understand why, if Mace isn't playing in defence, why she isn't positioned in DM where she can pick out a pass and cover the back line. Is she not a youth level England capt?

Can't believe how fucked off I am!
100% on all of that. I'd add that he uses a system when you need proper fullbacks and not this chopping and changing them all the time. We looked so much better when Alexandri was playing the inverted fullback by moving into midfield - so of course Taylor changes it. I would have used Mace to cover Greenwood today.

Sadly it appears that the team is not going to succeed so long as Taylor remains in charge.

Every season since he has been in charge there appears to be the same problems repeating themselves over and over. Tactical acumen and leadership ability defintely seem way beyond him, and the players must be affected by his demeanour and lack of ability.

The better players are surely going to be looking to move if he stays in charge much longer.

The club management need to sort this mess out very soon .

Problem he has always had an excuse, injuries, players leaving, new players. There is always something, always. I fear we may be stuck with him.

Good managers find a way to deal with problems, he seems only able to offer excuses.

Of course, the club may not see the Womens team as being important, but for people who seem intent on getting the best possible people in place, leaving Taylor in charge would indicate gross neglect imo.

There were no excuses today, one greedy player shooting straight at the keepers stomach virtually every time, should have been taken off and given a bollocking for not passing. No idea why Shaw was taken off, she wasn't doing a lot, but at least she is always an arial threat. Above all though, a lot of our passing was poor or pointless or both.
