WSL Brighton (H).12/11/23:

Good managers find a way to deal with problems, he seems only able to offer excuses.

Of course, the club may not see the Womens team as being important, but for people who seem intent on getting the best possible people in place, leaving Taylor in charge would indicate gross neglect imo.
I agree. I find it quite peculiar that he has survived for so long.

Toothless up front, poor decision making in the final third. What on earth was going on at the end there? Taking an age to take the corner and continuing to pass the ball back? Frustrating afternoon. Aside from Kelly's cross bar hit we really didn't look like scoring.
Watched most of second half and agree with you. On at least 4 occasions the hall goes back to Kennedy who can see the whole pitch and instead of moving forwards passes back to the goalie who takes an absolute age to then kick it upfield. Think Kelly is a cracking player but too greedy at times and once Shaw bizarrely went off there was no target for crosses. I’m sorry but I don’t share the love for Hasegawa - she works hard but can’t pass more than 10 yards, like all the players requires 2/3 touches before moving the ball
Shame the great home home record had to end.

My spirit could no longer endure after the 81st min. We lost not through lack of effort but for a dearth of skill, creativity, inventiveness, and a total lack of just one moment of clinical finishing. Oh what a different game that would have been had that shot on 21 secs have hit the underside of the bar and not the top. Thirty five shots, 13 on target and I fancy all 13 were down the Brighton goalie's throat. Given that statistical dominance I suspect those teams now above us in the league would have had a shedload to show for the dominance we had.

The Brighton defence had the measure of our attack for nigh on the eighty minutes I kept my seat warm.

I think Kiara Keating fielded more backpasses than the rest of the league's goalkeepers who turned out this weekend.

The build up from the back was ponderous, predictable, and slow whereas the speed with which Brighton got forward was pretty much chalk 'n cheese compared to our efforts.

This was a game where, again, if City ever did formalities, this was one of them. Never lost to Brighton before today but if we can find a way of shooting ourselves in the foot we will manage it.

Brighton aren't gonna win a trophy this season and playing like that we aren't either.

Perfect smash and grab away performance from Brighton. They were compact and kept us (well Kelly) largely to long range shots.

On the Taylor debate... There'd have to be a shift from the powers that be for anything to change. He's their perfect in-house yes man playing the way that fits into the CFG 'identity'.

It's simply not good enough.
You cannot waste that amount of chances in a game and expect anything.
Play like that next week at old toilet and were getting humped.

If I see any more performances like that then I won't be around to see what Taylor does next season. We outplayed CFC and only with the abominable refereeing when we were down to nine did they get an equaliser, we battered the Arse only for Keating to have a moment normally reserved for seniors, and then we had today. Three games where any team should have claimed nine points, and we come away with just one. I await the unbridled positivity to emerge from his post-match comments.
