You shouldn't have to be a Foden to be able to command a squad place at City. Look at Pep's Barca squad which was full of average young players who understood the way Barca played and could do a job. I don't understand why some City fans feel that we're the exception to the point you have to be one of the best young players in world football to progress to first team football.

It’s not about “understanding this”….it’s about the MCFC Academy being a conveyer belt of talent that benefits MCFC. We seem to have overtaken Chelsea at youth level in recent seasons so where’s the transition? Is he just somebody who doesn’t trust our scholars?

But nowadays they won't hang around, more money available if you move on in a lot of cases and guaranteed regular football, lower standard though.

It’s not a fucking Science numpty. It’s football and encouraging the best talent to the Etihad with a realistic expectation to progress. MCFC perform very badly with our transition from Academy to first team compared with other clubs….Phil and……….???

Oh right, so every player develops the same, fulfils potential, avoids injury, has the temperament to succeed?
Course it's a Science, you can't hang on to every player that is part of the Academy in the hope they turn out to be good enough one day.

The best 14 year old don't make the best 18 year old players. The best 18 year olds don't go on to make it at the top.

Suppose you'd be happy with a team with Schmeichel, Mee, Tripper, Iheanacho etc. in it, battling for a top 10 place.

To suggest the Academy is not working hard to find and develop players is ludicrous!
