Wydad AC (N) | CWC | Post Match Thread

Had a ticket in the cheap seats in the top tier but thanks to @Tbilisi and Mrs Tbilisi distracting the ticket checking staff, I skipped by and the 3 of us were on the 9 row from the front, lower tier behind the goal.
But we were right in the sun, so Tbilisi hatched a plan to go in the Club section which had shade which was section C27.

My ticket was for 227 so when asked for the ticket I put my thumb over the first 2 to reveal 27.
“C27” I said when asked to show my ticket on the phone and was waved through….. now we were in an air conditioned posh bar area at half time and then sat in the shade for the 2nd half

The weirdest of weird football experiences with circa 20,000 City shirts in the crowd, but the regulars and familiar faces simply dwarfed by the LET'S GO CITY types.

In contrast our opponents were outnumbered but their end seemed to contain more genuine supporters who had travelled long distance

The bloke next to me asked why De Bruyne wasn't playing and appeared annoyed when I explained that he was no longer at the club.

There also seemed to be loads of American supporters just wandering around mid game as though they were at the baseball and subsequently missing large chunks of the match
The price of success, a small price to pay. We are big time.

The vast majority of Wydad fans were US based Moroccan folk, very few would have travelled from the home country.
And as much as some of our fan base are the “Let’s Go City” type, last night at the Philly supporters club event, there was about 10 or so of us old school blues sat in the corner. Only 2 had an official City shirt / merchandise on. Where as the let’s go City types were decked out in official club gear. They may be mocked but they are pouring millions into the club where as I certainly am not doing so…….

I wasn't mocking them
I wasn't even criticising them.

I just found it a bit weird when fans were wandering off mid match and City defending a corner.

As for the Wydad fans there was definitely a plane load from Morocco because they were in the arrivals hall on Sunday

He’s 100% not got what it takes to start regularly at fullback for us but it’s not his fault he keeps being asked to

Good player to have in the squad though as versatile and can plug gaps as a short term option

Always seems to work hard too
He's 100 per cent not an elite level footballer.

I get the love in for him. But take the blue tinted specs off. He aint even making the bench for the top 10 European sides.

just dropping in to say i thought it probably was a red in this thread after getting pelters in the match thread

all the arguments we dismissed from Liverpool fans about Mane v Ederson (momentum, he went for the ball, intention, wasnt looking at him) can be applied here.

Lewis didnt need to have his foot bounce up and studs out like it did, he could have brought it away. he chose not to and it was reckless and dangerous.

My abiding memory of this match will be at the start when our Channel 5 studio host Kelly chastised the on pitch interviewer of Pep for being polite and thanking him. The game will be expunged lest it contaminate my hopes of a fantastic new team and season ahead - although if I never hear that City hating blister Conor McNamara again it would also be a blessing.

I'm decked out in official city gear from dhgate [emoji6]

Plenty of postives especially with the set pieces. The bullshit Rico Lewis' sending off and some of the questionable refereeing decisons took a little gloss.

Yeah I didn't say it was a problem

I just found it a bit weird when comparing the match to a typical day at the ETIHAD
I went to the toilet at 60 minutes and couldn't believe how many people were still entering the ground or queuing for food
People queuing up for food were probably saying “I couldn’t believe how many folk were going to the toilet during the game…”. ;)

He doesn’t need to be elite to make a contribution within a squad of 25. Plus he is home grown which matters from a squad perspective, and an academy graduate which helps showing other talented youngsters that there’s a pathway to the first team.
