Yaya - a time to cash in?

Re: Yaya - a time to cash in

We have to keep him next season, but another in and out
season for him and he could be sold next summer. I don't
think the ACON helped him last season, seemed very tired
in that second half of the season. We might see him back
to his best next season.

Definitely going to put the cat amongst the pigeons with this one.

I think we are in a perfect position to sell him and aquire a specialised player like kondogbia or gundogan. I know most people will be like, he's our best player, he's a beast, he won us the fa cup and the title.

However let me paint another picture, he's a jack of all trades but a master of none whose value is only going to decrease parallel to his stamina. Yes when he runs at defences he's frightening, but that won't be his job next season, and as a defensive player I find him very lazy and petulant at times. There is no doubt he's been a hero for us but I think now is a time we think of whole team dynamics and I can't help think, he could be a possible weak link, especially with his stamina and tendencies to go missing even tho he was alledgly pro Mancini.

So cash in or keep?
You might just about, conceivably, maybe have held on to a semblance of a sliver of credibility if you'd left that bold bit off your post .... perhaps.

He's masterful at most things imo.
Agreed.

Now, for some statistics.

(Based on City careers) he is also our best goalscoring midfielder (0.21 goals per game) over Rodwell (0.13), Barry (0.05), Garcia (0.08), Milner (0.1), Silva (0.13), Nasri (0.13) and Sinclair (0).
The only midfielder with a better goals per game ratio at City is Marcos Lopes, with 1 in 1.

But don't let statistics and facts get in the way, he clearly isn't good enough and should be shipped off to the highest bidder.

Fantastic post

Re: Yaya - a time to cash in

to get the best out of Yaya we need to relieve him of defensive responsibilty. He will never be a middleweight box to box dynamo, his frame is too big, he is not fat, just huge. Imo he is the most naturally gifted player in the squad, disguises a pass and retains the ball hits weighted through balls, better than any one. I have often posted that we have been too reliant on him, under MP and his tactics that could well be addressed. He seems to get frustrated with his team-mates at times, and can be petulant, wastes free-kicks too often( two yard pass) but is a proven match-winner.
Sorry op, but now is not the time to get rid, next season could easily be his best ever. Time will tell.

yaya - lets sell our best players

i thk if we are ever gonna haea chance in the chamns league we need to get rid of ourbest players e.g aguero yaya joe hart. i mean its all very clever and discussable.

As long as we can reduce wages and ensure that the best players are moved on this would be great.

To ensure this works we must cancel Fernandinhio and Jesus contract and not consider any new signings unless they are worse than we already have

Re: Yaya - a time to cash in

I do understand where the OP is coming from to a certain extent. Last season he looked like he was playing at about 65%, that was on a good day. When he plays at 90% and above, he is totally unplayable. I can count several times during our title winning season where he just owned the pitch. Now cast your mind back to last season and there was only one performance where he stood head and shoulders above every player on the pitch. Granted, the ACON may have played a part in his performances last season, but I would still expect more from him. I would give him a whole season under a new manager and regime, I think Pellegrini will transform quite a few players at City, I hope Yaya is one of them.

Re: Yaya - a time to cash in

Im 100% in the keep Yaya camp, if I could be more than 100% I would be. IMO hes the best player I have ever seen in our shirt (I'm pushing 40), with Silva a close 2nd, and I would sincerely hope he sees out the rest of his playing days with us.
Like somebody else has mentioned, can you imagine if he signed for one of our rivals, especially the rags - I would be absolutely gutted.

Yes, he has his defensive lapses and some inconsistencies (I also think when he is inconsistent it is highlighted much more due to what we know he can do and what is expected of him compared to others), but Yaya Toure should come under one heading and that is "IRREPLACEABLE"

I'm undecided.

On his day unplayable.

The trouble is,he didn't have many last season.

So does everyone else apart from Zaba, Clicy and Nasty!

most of the payers were average!

It's not just Yaya you know!

Hart was shit, he's the highest paid goalie, should we sell? thought so
