Definitely going to put the cat amongst the pigeons with this one.

I think we are in a perfect position to sell him and aquire a specialised player like kondogbia or gundogan. I know most people will be like, he's our best player, he's a beast, he won us the fa cup and the title.

However let me paint another picture, he's a jack of all trades but a master of none whose value is only going to decrease parallel to his stamina. Yes when he runs at defences he's frightening, but that won't be his job next season, and as a defensive player I find him very lazy and petulant at times. There is no doubt he's been a hero for us but I think now is a time we think of whole team dynamics and I can't help think, he could be a possible weak link, especially with his stamina and tendencies to go missing even tho he was alledgly pro Mancini.

So cash in or keep?

He signed a new contract last month.

Since when did that matter?

Eh? So we're going to give yaya toure a new contract and then sell him a month later?
Has to be a wind up

Might as well wave our chances of winning the league goodbye with him if he goes.

Not if it funds bale/Ronaldo/cavani and a more specialised BWM or DM

You can't start ripping the spine of the team apart. You need them as it makes new signings easier to blend in. Yaya's experience is crucial and he still has a lot to offer I think. If his performances deteriorate over the next season or two, maybe then start sending faxes to Russia and France.

I didn't say we would sell him, I just think we should think about it with a diminishing resale value, the fact he's not the specialised player we would need in a 433 and the fact he only turns up when he likes, and this is mainly when he's played further forward of which I doubt he will under MP

Re: Yaya - a time to cash in

Problem with Yaya is that he needs competition for his spot. Hopefully Fernandinho will be just that because too often Yaya is just lazy.

Who is your replacement then. He is the best midfielder in the league. When he gets going on a run teams are scared of him. I don't know another centre mid who does that.

He is our big game player as well.

Nowhere near the best midfielder in the league, shows up now and again with something specials and people rave about him, and forget about his dire lazy performances. He's a good all rounder and he has done some great stuff for us, but I'm not being berated for looking at his current value and seeing the eventual decline with a player who already lacks stamin. I'd rather a player was reliable in their endeavours than that who shows up for 5 games and looks like a world beater. He won't be played in the same way and I'm sure come end of season, Fernandinho or even an injury free Rodwell will be more valuable to us in a team sense, although I still think we need someone to break up play like Barry's role was

Re: Yaya - a time to cash in

He is easily one of if not the best centre mid in the EPL and he wouldn't command a huge transfer fee due to his age but there is no reason we couldn't sign Kondogbia as well think I read somewhere that he could be sold this summer on the cheap. Think we would be mad to sell him to be honest.
