Takes courage to apologize. Fair play. Hopefully this can help heal some wounds, and the people involved can move forward.
Harsh. At least he has come to his senses and apologized.Fuck off , you are not getting a statue and your legacy is ruined
All his shit aside, to this day the most important signing we made who took us up so many notches.Sorry but this is bollocks. You quote one great performance, great players perform much more often than he did, I saw plenty of games he played where he ambled around like a blind, old man looking for his lost dog in the park. He would not fit into today's team at all, where 100% effort and commitment are essential.
Not sure this would have taken 2/3 years of soul searching to conclude that you were in the wrong Yaya - way way way too late.No subscription required.
Pep Guardiola: Yaya Toure apologises for accusing Man City manager of ‘having problems with Africans’
Yaya Toure has written to Pep Guardiola to apologise for a 2018 interview in France Football magazine in which he accused the Manchester City manager of having a problem with black and African players. Toure, who left City in May 2018 after eight seasons at the club, accused Guardiola of...theathletic.com
“I want to apologise for what happened, I want to apologise for doing something wrong,” Toure has said.
“When something happens that is wrong and you make a mistake, or people use your name and use you to do some wrong stuff, you have to make it OK,” Toure says. “This one was wrong. I want to apologise for what happened, I want to apologise for doing something wrong.
“We decided we would try to communicate with some important people at the club to apologise and say I’ve been indecent to the club.
I like your sentiments but I don't think there is too much credit to be handed out on this one mate............Take the apology and move on. Credit to him.
When I read it, I don't feel that's an apology:
Yaya Toure reveals he's trying to end feud with Pep Guardiola
INTERVIEW BY JACK GAUGHAN: Toure wants peace with Manchester City, the club he spent eight hugely successful seasons at but with whom his relationship remains uneasy.www.dailymail.co.uk
1) "That interview was my big, huge mistake,' Toure rues. 'When you give your trust, your voice to someone, they can twist it"
--> Is he saying it actually was not him who say those words, it was not really him who accused Pep? So what kind of mistake he's talking about, the mistake that letting other people twist his words or the mistake that he indeed said the wrong thing? And he actually said wrong things many times, not just one; so what exactly he's talking about?
2) "'I was aware some staff were not happy. I emailed a letter to try to communicate with some important people there to apologise and say I've been indecent to the club but I haven't had any feedback"
--> Who was not happy? He attacked Pep personally, accused Pep of something untruth, and then he said "some staff", "some people". No man, that's not the way you sincerely say sorry.
And the way he said, it sounds like he's blaming the club (or Pep implicitly) for not responding to his email. It's more about blaming than apologizing.
3) "I want peace. We don't want this (acrimony) all the time. For the love of the fans, for the love of the club, sometimes things have to be settled the right way. I've been in touch with some people there."
--> Because in the 1st paragraph, he didn't really clearly mentioned what did he actually apologized for, so I'm not sure whether he really aware of his mistake or not. It makes this paragraph sounds like he just wants peace for himself rather than trying to fix the problem he caused.
So in conclusion, I don't see his sincerity in what he said. And I'm not sure how this is public because when we really want to apology someone, we usually don't go to the public and say other people have not replied to us yet.
Anyway, maybe I'm reading between the lines too much and he indeed wants to apologize, sincerely. But he should know that the whole club is so busy with hectic fixtures on 4 fronts, and if it takes him a few years to really say those apology words, he should expect to wait at least some more years to have a response.
And to be frank, it's not the duty of the club or Pep to reply to his email.
Couldn't agree more.........Fair play to him for apologising. Not everyone finds it easy to do.
That doesn't alter the fact that he made the statement in the first place. Fantastic player, undoubtedly. For 4 or 5 years, he was a beast. But as a man; sorry, but no. I can’t forget the whole cakegate nonsense, along with accusing Pep of being a racist. Some will say that it was that leech of an agent behind all of that. Hmm. Maybe, but I don't remember Toure coming out and telling Seluk to STFU.
Lead him in the wrong direction?I for one will always love Yaya. His agent was scum of the earth and lead him in the wrong direction. But we he did for our club was priceless. I think we should pay him some.
