Yaya Toure apologises for accusing Guardiola of ‘having problems with Africans’

Superb footballer but bit of a bellend,

Why wait for 2 years to come out with this, and from what i have read it is hardly an apology.

If he didn't agree with what had been reported he should have been coming out within day's if not hours of the comments being made public. Why wait for 2 years?

I am convinced this is just down to Kompany, Silva and Aguero being recognised by the club and given hero status by the fans.

I like your sentiments but I don't think there is too much credit to be handed out on this one mate............
Yeah I was reacting to the thread title only and not read any context when I posted. It seems it’s not as straight forward as I’d hoped but my original sentiment remains regarding us all moving on.
He will never be held in the same regard as others from that team in my eyes but that’s just personal preference. I can understand why others feel different and put him at the top of the tree, even if I’d never agree with them.

It really really isn’t!

You only have to hear it when we still sing his songs at games (when we’re allowed in) to show that barely anyone apart from a few sensitive souls on the internet think that.

Yaya Touré is the greatest player we’ve had since the takeover. Nothing he’s said takes away or diminishes the memories of his greatest moments. His performance against United is still the best individual performance I’ve seen from a player nearly 9 years later.
PC I love your posts mate - I can't agree on this one.

Brilliant brilliant player fitness and form permitting (Newcastle away before QPR is probably my favourite Yaya performance - sublime), but not a person I want or want the club to be associated with off it.

I don't find it acceptable for someone to continuously make unfounded and harmful claims of our club or the people within it (and or not correct his idiot agent)............

Clearly wants a statue. Not getting one. Great player and no need for all his agents comments at all. Yaya has made mistakes. Thanks for the apology - accepted by many fans and he will always be remembered as an incredible player. I am not so sure about what Pep will think.

I love Yaya as a footballer, so I'm torn. Without the nonsense I'd 100% say give him a statue, he deserves it; but with the off field gob-shiting I'm not sure it is correct to do it.
If only he had shut his mouth, and got on with his high paying dream job, things would be different.
Some of his play was just sublime, truly a joy to watch. His goals were crucial to our successes as well.
OK, no statue, but a mosaic of him... somewhere off the beaten track, like on the lawnmower shed, or boiler room... that's my compromise.
How about the floor in the bogs next to summerbees?
