Some people forget just how good players are after they leave the prem for a few years.
I'm not referring to how good Fabregas is or isn't, but that Barcelona don't use him as 1st choice in their team and have made him available for transfer. Therefore they're the bidding club, not us, we've already let it be known through the media that we consider Yaya unsellable, so they would need to offer more than just a straight swap.

Fabregas isn't a substitute, he's started plenty of games this season. As he's proven PL quality and entering his prime I think a straight swap would be fair enough.
Go look at the teamsheet, he's started games when one of Neymar, Messi or Iniesta has been injured or the odd time when they've played with four in midfield. Their first choice team has been Busquets-Xavi-Iniesta-Pedro/Sanchez-Messi-Neymar for the front six. Besides, they've invited people to make offers for him Do you really think that makes him a first choice player in the way that Yaya is at City?

I didn't compare him to Yaya at all, difference is that Yaya is 31 and not going to have a season as good as he's just had. You can quote the team that you think is first choice all you like but I've seen Fabregas start plenty of big games this year.

+£10m or so for us, we'd be giving them a player who is one of the first names on our teamsheet and getting a squad player.

Every player is a squad player, and Fabregas would be one of those who'd play the most.

None of you are listening, Fabregas is for sale, Yaya isn't. Remember all the times we got lowballed with players we wanted rid of? That's how it works.

Re: Yaya Toure

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but Pelligrini chose Yaya as his vice captain earlier this season. Are these the actions of a vice captain? Someone who is supposed to step up and steer the whole squad when or if the real captain is not there ??
Zabba should have been made vice captain. He wouldn't pull this type of stunt.
Proper pissed off with the timing of this.
Yaya, take your head for a wobble.

My opinion for what it's worth, he's heard what Rooney is getting at Ynited, Messi signing a new improved contract at Barca and probably thinks he's as valuable to City as these are to their clubs and wants paying accordingly. I'm pretty sure his agent went to the Sulaiman Al-Fahim School of media correspondence.
Rooney got what he wanted because the rags were weak and Messi also exploited Barca's current disarray. I think Yaya will find City less accomodating - even though we prepared to take the occasional "pinch".

Bang on. Khaldoon et al do not strike me as flakes. And, while I don't profess to be an expert on Arab culture, I get the impression they wouldn't take kindly to being disrespected. Specially in public. Ohhhh no.

If we start talking to Barca about a swap then he IS for sale.

Yaya's the better player right now, but Fabregas has age on his side and is proven in the Premier League. A straight swap would be about right.

Re: Yaya Toure

The more I think about this the more I think Yaya and his camp have got wind of us thinking he is not the future and we possibly are looking at cashing in.

Are we seeing a backlash from a jilted other half?

Yet out of 65 games all in all last season, Cesc started 52 and came on as a sub 13. he scored 15 goals and had 17 assists.

Squad player my ass. He'd be a given starter if fit, just as Hart, Zabaleta, Aguero, Kompany and Silva.

OK so that's why Barca have him for sale is it?
