Re: Yaya Toure

Very naive to think Yaya hasn't contributed to the embarrassment that has been caused to our club. We will probably never get to know exactly what has or hasn't happened or what has or hasn't been said however Yaya could have controlled the media by releasing a clear and concise statement. He either wants a new contract or a new club otherwise we wouldn't have had any of the shenanigans that have been played out in the media. Other star players, Aguero, Silva etc do their business behind closed doors, Yaya should do the same out of respect for himself, the club and the fans, of whom he was once an idol. He is fast becoming another Tevez, Robinho to us and a figure of ridicule for the media and opposing fans. Some will say it matters not what others think of him or us as a club, I would argue that over the past 12 months we have fought hard to shake off the mantle of the club that shoots themselves in the foot, in one foul swoop Yaya has brought the wolves back to the door. This needs sorting now, not after the World Cup. I would hate to lose one of our star players but no player is bigger than the club and if he insists on embarrassing his paymasters then he must be sold and we move on as a club, minus a great player but with integrity intact and a pot of money to try and replace the skill we will have lost.

Re: Yaya Toure

Maybe yaya and city have made all this shit up to give us something to talk/debate on bluemoon knowing we'd be bored waiting for the new season!

Yaya comes across as a perfectly sensible down-to-earth guy.

His agent on the other hand...

Is doing everything with his clients wishes.

It's really weird how there are still posters who refuse to believe that. Proper straw clutching!

Re: Yaya Toure

just thinking out loud: could it be so, that the club was aware of a potential Yaya unrest when we gave him a 4-year contract last summer? Four years for a 30 y/o is pretty unusual, is it not? I mean, that long contract could have been given as a cautionary action.

Maybe we are well prepared to deal with this situation, even if it is a s ugly as we all fear, and thanks to Txiki/Ferran we already know we will come out of it as winners on TKO.

Re: Yaya Toure

What I don't get, he was voted best player by the fans, has two great songs one of which is even sung by regular people on the streets and is recognised by the coaching team as our most important player by playing almost every game including cup games. What more does he want? It's bizarre behaviour and very sad.

Re: Yaya Toure

Just over 250K views.

Wait a minute, that's just over what Yaya earns in a week at City

250K.

It worked.

Now, have you heard Silva is disgusted with his stale cucumber sandwiches and is agitating for a move to Dipperpool?

Think it's pretty clear he doesn't want to be here in August
I wouldn't go that far

He's assessing his options

That's what happens when you have one of the world's best players on your books. Ronaldo left Man Utd as not more than a kid. Yaya is 31. He knows that if he doesn't move now, he'll stay, and see his contract out by which time none of the top clubs will be interested.

I hope and think he'll end up staying.

Re: Yaya Toure

He has given his best years to City 27 - 31, he is likely to decline soon so it may be a good time to sell.

Time to move on.

Or the other way round.

And of course the earth is not round but completely flat..... FFS
Think you're underestimating the influence agents have over players.

Most likely it's gone something like this:
Yaya: I'm thinking about the end of my career and want a Patrick Viera type role at Manchester City.
Agent: Ok, we'll need to open discussions with the club, do these things in the meantime to strengthen our position and it will force the club to take us more seriously.

Re: Yaya Toure

Toure trusts Seluk completely. They're very good friends and Seluk has been a superb advisor so far in Toure's career, influencing his moves throughout Europe. I found this a very telling article: http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/26155301.app.

Now, I think that Seluk has realised that this summer could be the last time he can cash in on his prized asset. Toure has very little to gain from moving - he's unlikely to get paid any more and he's unlikely to win any more stuff than he would at City. Seluk, however, earns the majority of his keep through negotiating new contracts and moves. This is the last time that Yaya will be marketable and he wants a final pay day.

Toure trusts Seluk enough to go along with it. To be fair, Toure's unlikely to do badly from any move that happens either.
