It always amazes me the upset and outrage when a player does this.

He isn’t a City fan.
He doesn’t come from Manchester.
Hes paid £250k a week to be here anyway.

Granted he does some great things on the pitch from time to time but if he wants to go let him go.....

He could have had icon status for life at the club but he obviously doesn’t care and doesn’t want it.
Fair enough. His loss. We all move on.

This may come as a shock to some of you but 70%/80% of our players would also prob go about getting a move like this.
Not just at our club though, all teams will have this issue.
They are footballers not fans of the club.

Out of our players id like and hope to think Kompany and Zabba wouldn’t ever leave on bad terms. I would hope they would explain that they won’t renew when their contract is in its last year, explain the reason, ie, one last challenge or try a new league and then we can all wish them well.

I think they both care about the club as we do. Maybe Hart too.

Can't agree with that. You get a player making noises this ridiculous, once or twice a season, and that's right across the board not just at City.

How do you replace a one off ?

Ah, you're now confusing me with a football genius!

Big clubs seem to continue to win trophies, even after they have sold their stars.

If we stand still with Yaya, we only have the problem in two years time when he goes into his final 12 months and he is 33.

I think Vidal would be a great replacement, but I'm sure Juventus would want Jovetic in exchange.

If we did that (and I'm a Jovetic fan) we would still have best part of any Yaya fee to bring in a couple more big names.

People on big money to make big decisions like that.

I'd use the rest of Toure money to sign Reus from Dortmund.

Think of Reus, Vidal, Fernando and Mangala/Benatia....and all in budget.

Re: Yaya Toure

still cant believe all this, maybe he will stay, but his rep has been harmed for sure, we idolize him, yea hes does go missing sometime, but boy when he wants to hes unstaoppable, we as fans sing his name, but just cant get head around the fact all this is over a bloody birthday, he wont get the love we show him anywhere else imo, but if he wants to go, then go, no man is bigger than any team

Have to disagree. I would have no problem with Yaya if he came out and straight up said he has enjoyed his time at the club but wants a new challenge at PSG or to return to Barca. But the way he has gone about it is appalling and shown a complete lack of respect for the club, his teammates and the fans. Accordingly, I have no reason to respect him anymore.

I take your point and I know Football is different BUT

We all do jobs for companies by and large we didn't dream of working for one day.

We are all largely hired help paid to do jobs in return for money.

We all have good days and bad days and feel unappreciated from time to time.

In most companies you have to buy the cakes on your birthday.

BUT none of us would ever get away with slagging off and disrespecting our employers I public the way Yaya has. We'd all have received our P45 pronto and been down the street.

No one has loved watching Yaya more than me but the way the club handles this will define us for the foreseeable future - have we grown up, will we tolerate this repeated nonsense or is the sum greater than the parts? Yaya is one hell of a player but if we need to chose between Yaya and MCFC then there is no choice in my view.

pretty spot on in imo

Re: Yaya Toure

I love Yaya but if he wants to leave, so it will be his decision.

Paul Pogba or Cesc Fabregas or Ross Barkley maybe welcome to Manchester.

Re: Yaya Toure

If he is not returning calls then Khaldoon and Txiki should fly over there and speak to him in person and sort this out
I was watching him being interviewed on the pitch after the title win and he showed no sign of being anything other than delighted and looking foward to next season
Sounds like he wants a move but what a completely cuntish way to go about it
He can fuck off and we will move on.This must have thrown our summer plans into chaos and the" i'll tell you after the world cup" displays an arrogance i never thought i would see from him
If he stays please show him in the first home game how upset we have been by not singing his name,he will need to earn the respect back but i think he has gone too far and we will sell him if we can replace him this window,if not he will have to stay till next year.I am so disapointed in this,i thought the days of troublemakers were gone

Re: Yaya Toure

I am completely saddened by this whole episode, one of the best players I have ever had the pleasure of watching regularly and he has, in my opinion, sullied his time here by the way he has gone about engineering a move.

I wish he had just been honest about wanting to leave, nothing wrong with wanting to try a new challenge, in a country where his native tongue is spoken, I think 99% of us would understand that.

The good thing is, all of my mates that are NOT City fans, have said the only person looking bad in all of this is Yaya himself, they all think he has made an absolute tit of himself and City have acted with the utmost decency.

So I guess if he leaves it will be bye and thank you for the memories Yaya, 2011 semi, and final, Newcastle away, all of this seasons goals inc. the stunner at Wembley.

Now, if you are going to leave Yaya, do it as soon as possible, give us time to replace you, don't leave us scrabbling around at the last minute to recruit your successor(s).

Re: Yaya Toure

Iv'e just noticed the picture of VK & Manuel on the top of the screen.
No YaYa then...

Re: Yaya Toure

I'd just say to him go and find yourself a buyer in the next 2 weeks at £30m and you can leave, £40m if it's PSG.

Re: Yaya Toure

The problem I foresee is trying to buy his replacement before we've sold him, seeing as we will have to wait until after the World Cup.

Due to FFP we will be giving him the advantage if we sign someone prior to getting shut as he will know we have to lower the price to ensure he's gone.

Tricky shit.

Some people seem unable to understand that it isn't the lack of loyalty that is the problem but the manner he has displayed it. I don't mind players leaving but we could do without the public dry humping on the way out.

Re: Yaya Toure

If we can get 35+ million for him from PSG then we should take it. It's been a privilege watching him for the last few years and his part in our success will never be forgotten. That said i'd like to think as a club we no longer have to be held to ransom by any player, regardless of what they can do on the pitch.
It's all a bit sad and unnecessary how it's being played out through the media with us only getting snippets of second hand information, but then I guess that's how the modern game works these days when players are angling for a potential move.
His agents still a loopy **** though, think that's the only certainty to come out in all of this sad affair.

Like I said to the last guy who tried to use last year and the year before as a way to excuse this garbage ... Toure's agent put not just the club but it's owners on blast with his comments since the season ended. I for one don't give a shit about how good a player he is, as a group of supporters our loyalties should lie with Sheikh Mansour and co.

This has shades of Mancini/Tevez/Balotelli all over it and the lesson those three learned is that for Abu Dhabi perception and image is as important as talent.
As fans we don't really know what's going on until months later, and even then you get a biased version of events

If we have learned anything about Tevez, and Mancini, maybe it's not to jump up and down

I'm not going to join in with the hang him and flog him herd whilst I don't know what is going on.

Spot on, exactly where I'm at in all of this.

I find the hissy fits from City fans as pathetic as Seluk to be honest.
+1

I take your point pal about players looking after their own interests and unquestionably the 'love' the players have for our club would soon disappear for example if we were ever to get relegated.

What I struggle to reconcile is the way in which Yaya and his agent have gone about this, which is the problem and I do not think most players would act in such an underhand, sly disrespectful way.

For example could you imagine the players you mentioned or Milner, Barry, Silva, Lescott, Richards, Dzeko acting in such a manner? Regardless of their feelings for the club most people have a certain level of decency about them and their own moral fabric would stop them behaving in such a manner.

I still think the situation is retrievable - Suarez looked a certain goner from Liverpool last summer and twice Rooney has looked to be on his way out of United, so you can never say never. However, as much as I've been in the "reserve judgement" camp on this issue, as time has gone on I'd have expected a statement from Yaya by now that would've quashed talk of him wanting out and distanced himself from Seluk's comments but so far all we've seen are quotes that only add fuel to the fire. That's not good and the situation needs sorting one way or another because the longer it goes on, the more it will impact on our plans going forward. A situation that I felt was going to blow over is now in danger of becoming an unhealthy distraction for the club.
