Re: Yaya Toure

Finally caught up with this thread. To be honest after winning the league I personally am dissapointed with all of Yayas antics.
To sell or not to sell?
For me this is the chance for the club to again show its teeth as we did with Tevez and let Toure know that the club will simply not be fucked around by both him and his agent. What will the club do? I know we are in safe hands with Khaldoon etc and if they sell I am sure we will have a suitable replacement lined up.
I simply refuse to let this bother me.
So many more important things in life.

Yeah, that's a great idea Bill.
Let's deny ourselves the services of one of our key players, play him in the reserves where he has the chance of getting injured, therefore rendering him useless from either a playing or selling point of view, whilst still paying him £200k plus a week, rather than either reading him the riot act, bollocking him, and warning him in no uncertain terms never to fuck about like this again and coming to some agreement, or selling him while we still have a chance of bringing in a suitable replacement for the forthcoming season.
Are you sure you've thought this through properly?

Absolutely.

I'll tell you one thing. The last thing he'd get is what he wants. No rise and no move. Yes we lose him if we put him in the reserves but better that than playing against him. I'd fuck with his head till he dribbled his fucking dinners, then say NOW fuck with Manchester city.

That rhetoric is fine and dandy, and doing as you propose may well prove a point, but ultimately it isn't the best thing for our club, whichever way you look at it, and surely it should be the best interests of the club which are paramount - not cutting our noses off to spite our face for the sake of it.
Being realistic, we either kiss and make up, and he stays, or we sell him now, and look to restructure the team without him.
Keeping a disinterested player who wants away does neither party any favours, and is actually the worst thing we could possibly do, as it just prolongs this sorry saga further.

Its time a club stood up against these dodgy agents and mard arse players. We are that club. Its time to forget what's good for us and think about what's good for the game. We are not the rags.Rooney runs that place and look where they are.

I don't really care about the good of the game as much as I care about the good of Manchester City mate, and an empty gesture like the one you are proposing simply wouldn't further us as a club.
Anyway, we clearly aren't going to agree on this one, so I'll call it a day and decamp to the relative sanity of the Cellar, as I get altitude sickness if I stay up here too long.

Re: Yaya Toure

We cant be soft and sell him, we need to make a stand so any other player who thinks about tying this shit will think twice, if he doesn't back down and publicly apologizes AND sack his agent then send him out on loan next season to New York/ Melbourne City on tell he has a change of heart, if he doesn't then he can stay there for 3 years out of our way, we might lose short term but i bet any other player thinking about acting up would fall in line

We cant let players dictate to us, esp when they still have a 3 year contract, try this shit at work and you would be sacked on the spot

Is there a better expression in the English language than 'wizard's sleeve'?

Re: Yaya Toure

Yaya won't be worried about ruffling the Club's feathers despite the bad behaviours of Toure and his agent. The Premier League is a ruthless game and "holistic" and #together are out of town.

Did Txiki think twice when unloading Kolo?
Was Pellers worried about giving very few English players a game?
Did the City PR manchine show restraint when they wanted every man and his dog to believe that Mancini was the only person in the world who couldn't keep the squad happy?

I trust Pellers, Txiki and co to keep on doing a good job as their decisions have been mainly in our interests.

However, let's not kid ourselves that Yaya is the only person ruthlessly pursuing his own objectives.

£50m sale or Yaya's going nowhere. If PSG can't pay up then he will be at the Etihad next season.

So the latest sound bite to French media " it would be an honour to play for PSG"
From the Guardian....

“Given the goals of Paris, how could you not be interested in a club like that?” Touré told France Football. “PSG have become one of the strongest teams in Europe. It would be a honour to one day play for a club like that. If I can be of service [then good].

“Given the magnificent season Manchester City have had, everyone talks about me and everything is open. My agent, Dimitry [Seluk], is hanging on the telephone and he knows what he has to do, I have complete confidence in him. Nobody knows what can happen tomorrow, my attention is on the World Cup and we will see afterwards.”

Regarding Barca, who Touré played for before joining City, he added: “Yes, I have said I would like to finish my career at Barcelona. You never know because football moves quickly, you never know.”

Seems like that using cake as bait doesn't work, so he's had to rebait the hook with a different worm... A big fast slimy one, holding a telephone..

Sounds like a fukin whore is a fukin whore

Re: Yaya Toure

If all the stories are true as to him saying Paris would tempt him then we should sell. We don't need another season where players heads are elsewhere or there are factions in the squad. Yaya is supposed to be a game winner, our star midfield engine but with these comments he sounds pathetic. He is already paid a ridiculous amount because the club value him so highly, the fans loved him but he has basically said "give me more money or I am gone". So he goes. We can easily find a couple of players that will add to our squad. We may lose something in the short term because he is such a great player, but you can see from Atletico Madrid what a tight and hard working squad can achieve. We remove Yaya we at least remove the tension and animosity and we get rid of a player who it seems may disrupt things within the squad.

I think 'clown's pocket' and 'plasterer's radio' give it a run for it's money.

I also bet any other top player weighing up a move to Manchester City would start having second thoughts if we went down this road.

It's a nice idea in theory, but only serves to damage City in the long run and that's why there's zero chance of City pulling a stunt like that.

  • * He goes now for big money.
    * He stays for another year with an agreement that leaves next summer for a lower fee.
    * He stays for the rest of his career with the promise of an ambassador's role.

Those are the only realistic outcomes.

I disagree. The flapping and flopping inherent to a wizard's sleeve compounds its comedic currency to elevate it above all pretenders.
