Bet City are delighted about this on the same day as the 6,000 new homes announcement...

No club statement yet? I'd expect them to want to deny this as strongly as possible, to make such an accusation at a club obsessed with having a good image will not please them.

Now, let's assuming Yaya has made this up - which history (Adebayor, Zaba, Mancini, Pellegrini all getting leave) tells us is probably the case - he will want City to sell him on the back of this. And that's why City shouldn't sell him and make him stay.

Being a club who is keen to have such a good public image means we have to seriously consider selling him, I think.

How can we let him stay after this. We have to wash our hands completely of him if this is untrue, andf publically.

Not sure he can stay after such slander. IF it's not true.

For starters, if it is in print it is potentially libel, not slander.

Second, if this IS (as some suspect) another attempt to force a move, then why give him what he wants?

Phew- thanks for explaining it might be libel rather than slander. The fact is they are worrying, and potentially damaging comments.

Second -I think the the 'if' should be emphasised in capitals, not just the 'is'

And- it is more than 'giving him what he wants'. Whilst I agree it would be disappointing that we have to cave in to his pressure and give him a move, if he meant these comments, then I'm not sure we can keep him at the club.

I'm not sure if it has been lost in translation, a mis quote etc...but IF he was purposely being negative about City, and basically lying then I'm not sure he can stay. Our owner is obsessed with a good worldwide image to help us progress as a club. By keeping a player who has claimed we stopped him spending time with his dying brother would almost seem like we have condoned his behaviour.

IF Yaya was being negative about City then we need to wash our hands of him.

With everything else thats going on I can only focus on the point that Yaya has lost a brother, and for that he has my deepest sympathies.

True.

Strange, in fact, that he would make such remarks during such a traumatic time, and when he will be in a deep process of grieving!

You have made me a bit embarrassed about the fact I have even posted on this- the guy has lost his younger brother- that is the key thing here.

City have an excellent recent record of granting compassionate leave of absence to their players. They are insisting that had Yaya requested leave they would have granted it. I read the article in French and it is quite unambiguous - "City were not prepared to grant me time off...".

We all feel upset for him about his tragic loss, there's no doubt at all. I'm sure the club do. It must be terrible for him.

But to slag the club off on for a supposed (and flimsy) reason is just not on.

Respect works both ways, young man.

Unless the French rag has completely invented his statement, as some people are implying........

Not just the players - remember the compassionate leave granted to Mancini?

My understanding is that culturally it is extremely likely that if taken by Khaldoon or anyone higher up the chain the decision would have been to allow him some compassionate leave. However it is possible that the decision was taken by someone below Khaldoon.

Not forgetting the compassionate leave given to Don Manuel in the autumn following the loss of his mother.

And Stevie Ireland for the deaths of his 7 Grandma's

I agree punish, get rid or both. If he maintains this claim he can never wear the shirt again. In my opinion the guy is a shithouse, and better if we get rid now.

This is completely correct. However, it is, therefore, a disgrace that Toure is using this to have a further go at the club to engineer his desired move. There is no other explanation. The club would not have done such a thing and have been dignified in their response. I'm afraid Toure has shown himself up disgracefully this summer. A real disappointment.

FFS you needy cunts give it a rest.

Let Yaya mourn his younger brother in peace

MCFC is not as important to me as my brother, and if it thats the case for you then I feel sorry for you.

Leave Yaya alone let him get his head sorted then we move with what happens

Spot on - Yaya needs a rest , time to mourn, time to get away from football. In 3 weeks he can sit down with ferrano's and pelle and sort things out!

The stupidest thing is blues slagging him and doing PSG work for them - the French paper has just a touch of an agenda

Refreshing to read and see some sensible posts and both your points are absolutely correct. If you watched the game you could see that he was disorientated, sometimes not even able to stay on his feet. It takes bravery to do what he did today.

A time may come to go after him especially when the substance of the matter is exposed and resolved and we should not rely on media and their obvious agenda. But at least have some consideration and empathy and allow him to mourn his brother. But this a forum so you get all sorts so it does not surprise me.

It always makes me laugh when I read stuff like this. What you really mean is that you share the same opinion.

City have been told Toure had full copy approval, before it was published.

And the publication has the tapes to back up his comments.

He's expected back in Manchester before his break.

Its about to get very interesting then! I am in the camp of its time to sell. If he wants to go and someone pays the value we put on him then let him go. THere are options out there we can replace him with, Kroos, Pogba, Vidal etc

One thing is for sure we don't this dragging on while Toure is on his jollies!
