Fact is that Barça are - one again - being ridiculous regards to what they want for a player (as with Eto'o last year).
Laporta has come out and said that he reckons that 35m is the going rate for Cesc, yet is expecting a similar fee for a player who barely gets a kick in their 1st team. No chance.
City are doing the right thing, we have a valuation for him (which - doubtless - is around the 20-25m mark) and we are refusing to pay more (especially for a 28 year old).
He really isnt the type of player who can change games, and when you look at the fact that David Silva is available for around 30m, Ibra for 40ish, and that David Villa has just gone to Barça for 30ish, then 35m for a 28 year old defensive midfielder who can't get into the side is ridiculous.
We paid 25m for Lescott last year because he was worth that to Everton (and to us), and Yaya is worth nowhere near that to Barça (or to us).
Add to this - and to get back to the original point in this thread - that his agent seems like the kind of guy to cause massive disruption if things don't go his clients' way, then he can fuck off.
Team harmony and a together attitude got us further in the 2nd half of last year, and if his idiot agent can't work out that even if you are rich you aren't necessarily stupid enough not to object to paying 1m for a beermat, then it doesnt bode well for the future.
