How constructive, let him have his opinion, I thought he played well and I don't like him that tbh. He is a good player but really overrated by some on here

I agree not constructive but neither was the op. We just had our most impressive performance in years. Against a team who will be top 5 maybe. And I can't fault any player. Yaya did nothing wrong. Plus his assist.

And how anyone doesn't like him after scoring the two most important goals in recent history I'll never know.
Totally agree Yaya was very efficient today but some just don't seem to understand his role over the last couple of games, they are not happy unless he is making 60yard lung busting runs, the same fans will be those who slatted dejong not long ago too

I dont think he had a great game either but barry controlled it in the middle and just got on with the job, we have enough players who can be put into the team so that he realises he has to pick up his game to get back into it, he will be back to best soon though

Nit picking after 5-1 at Spuds, but to me was our worst player..
Barry was fantastic next to him, but Yaya doesn't look quick enough in mind or body at the mo..
Got passed by many too many times by Spuds..
is this a piss take ?

fuck me, what a nimrod.

Some stats on Yaya from yesterday..

Passes: 97 (89 successful)

Interceptions: 0

Tackles: Won 1, Lost 3

Clearances: 2 (both unsuccessful)

Blocks: 0

Make of that what you will but it shows me that his job/forte is circulating the ball... Which he does brilliantly. He defends by keeping the ball. I reckon he might have learned that at Barcelona. I bet they don't actually make that many tackles...?

For comparison here's Barry's stats

Passes: 72 (64 successful)

Interceptions: 3 successful (all on edge of our box)

Tackles: Won 3, Lost 2

Clearances: 3 successful, 2 unsuccessful (all in our penalty area)

Blocks: 1 (in our box)

Surely the OP is taking the piss .
Yaya is world class and played very well yesterday .
We played well collectively as a team yesterday .
Let's see how many teams go there and impress like we did .

I apologize in advance for my ignorance on Muslim rituals and such but has he not just finished that Ramadan where he cant eat properly ?

I think he did his part well.

He is not one of my favourite players but I thought his passing was outstanding yesterday. He played a great ball out of defence for the 2nd goal and found Edin for the 3rd.
Bit hacked off that he didn't jump for the Spurs goal but overall I thought that was his best game this season.
I'm over the moon(blue) about yesterday and I'm not going to be hard on what was an absolutely mindblowing and wonderful performance. I was entranced.

its a team game ffs each player one cog in a wheel everybody does their job wheel keeps turning one cog fails wheels fall off cut the crap op and enjoy

i'v read redcafe&rawk a lot and both mainly say this is one player they'd both love to have(also silva). yaya is world class love the guy

You don't like him even though he scored in the semi and final last season. Jesus christ some people take a lot of pleasing

I was so happy until I saw this thread. I thought it was going to be a thread about how good he has been. IMO he is very, very underrated by our fans and I thought he was fantastic again yesterday. His distribution of the ball in tight spaces in the middle is fantastic. Silva and Nasri get all the plaudits for what they do after Yaya has done his work and gave them the ball.

He has been fantastic so far this season and for the first time in 2 years I am wondering if De Jong is needed for every game.

yaya played very well,he wasn't in his usual position yday were he can show his real quality going forward which he loves to do.

He wasnt the only muslim who did very well yesterday. One scored four and the other played 3 assists

^^Absolutely This!!^^

Apart from the toughest of opponents, I can see Mancini playing one or the other in the future. I was shot down in flames a few weeks ago for even daring to suggest the dropping of De Jong, but as I said at the time I was matching us up player for player with Barca and that's where this notion came from:

Aguero/Pedro_________________Dzeko/Villa_________________Mess/Nasri

Iniesta/Yaya(Tevez)(Would have been Sneijder)_____Xavi/Silva

_________________________Busquests/De Jong_____________________

according to 442 stats zone ya ya toure had the biggest player influence in the match the whole way through (not sure what its based on) everybody played well and he wasn't a weak link just didn't do anything spectacular just his job.

In my opinion if we are to be successful this season Barry and DeJong must start the majority of games in midfield. Yes Yaya's passing is top quality-his pass through midfield for Dzeko's second and the run outside Aguero for Dezeko's third-sublime.

However, watch the last 20 mins or so and Yaya is constantly in the wrong position, allowing spurs to run through our midfield at will. Yes the game was won, but the same thing happened in the community shield and frequently when Yaya was played deeper last season. Yaya simply doesnt work as hard without the ball as he does with it.

On the other hand Barry gave a masterclass again in midfield play-he always gets goal side of the opposition and covers for other players-Yaya rarely does.

People will say he wasn't that good because he did hsi job well . He was playing the defensive midfield role that he has said he prefers to play , and when you play back there you don't get noticed as much . But he was good yesterday , I watched him quite closely and his passing in general is fantastic . He was purely outshone yesterday , but that doesn't mean he didn't play well . Some may call him our worst player yesterday but , really you could just say he was the worst of the best . I think he lost Kaboul for their goal , but otherwise he didn't do anything wrong

Yaya is more of a CM than a DM. He's not a great tackler. And thankfully, Ramadan is over as far as we're concerned.

But wow, can he run past defenders! Even when starved.

he may or may not have done ramadan when your a footballer you can take ramadan at another time or give to charity. :)
