Yaya Toure

Silva, KDB, Nasri are now fit. They are in their prime. Toure is not. But we know Pellegrini is going to build his team around Toure.

Silva, KDB and Nasri are amongst the most creative players in the Premiership. We just need to embed them in a system. My criticism of Pellegrini is that he has predictably seen that building the team around Toure does not work. It was creaking last season. And despite a very talented squad we have not tried anything else.

I have given up on change under Pellegrini and I just hope Yaya has enough left in the tank to see us over the line to 4th place in the league and on to the semi-finals of the Champions League. That would be something
Nasri ain't fit to lace yayas boots. Kdb is still potentially great where as yaya has been there and done it. Silva doesn't change games the way the big man does. But given that you recently compared Fernando to makele and mascherano Marv I don't think yaya will lose much sleep. Gerrard probably had a yaya duvet cover and dreamt of winning what he has over his career.

Have read your posts on this topic for a while. Very little logic if any to your positions from a football point of view and you always drag his agent into it- not sure why. Is he playing for us?
Think there must be something else behind your dislike of a player who had contributed so much - he's not snubbed an autograph has he?

The agent was relevant to the discussion so I don't understand the need for the silly rhetorical questions.

Viridian mentioned Yaya's agent doing all the talking. Fatbloke reminded him that Yaya has explicitly stated "he speaks for me".

If you're going to jump two footed into someone's discussion, make sure you actually read what was said before.

Read my post on page 10.

There's no point, this is the "Sun shines out of Yaya's arse/ Silva's shit/ Yaya best captain we've ever had/ model of consistency/ wait until he activates his laser vision/ Africa should show more respect/ Manuel is the worst human being for daring to use a professional athlete more than once a week/ we've forgotten how irate we were before the league cup final" thread.

There's just no point.

let me start from last season. Who and who did we have? The Ferns and Yaya? Right? Yes. I won't count Lampard for obvious
reasons. You and I know that the Fern combo that seemed laudable on paper, has so far failed miserably asides the odd couple of games. It was a no brainer to start Toure last season really as we didn't have the quality required. So for me the problem was more about not having the
requisite quality in our ranks than Yaya holding us back. The last time I saw Nasri
play in CM, though a non-competitive match, it was a horror show against the the Germans in preseason. You claim that Pellers builds the team on 'faltering' Yaya but i'd argue that he builds as much with Yaya as he does with Silva who is
struggling even when played in the
center and KDB forced out wide. This players you mention are not even CMs or natural Yaya alternatives (Nasri, KDB and Silva).
I do not claim that the options we have are better than Toure in his prime, but better than Toure in 2016. And we have also had 2 to 4 transfer windows to address this if you don't rate the players on our books. Silva falters now because Yaya is less than the player he was. Play Silva off Aguero, or put De Bruyne there, and play Nasri centrally in the middle with Fernando and Delph. Thre are alternatives. And as I said before if these are not options for you then there's the transfer market. Allowing this City team to degenerate to this level is very poor, and for me a very big aspect of the decline relates to Toure and the midfield. If you disagree, I'd welcome your opinion on where it has gone wrong. Injuries are only a part

Thanks for the post.....was a bit worried at first that it was just going to be a montage of him falling over but then got into the guts of the clip and was blown away - cheered me up on a wet and very windy bank holiday.

Yaya is a total one off. I've never seen a player who can so effortlessly score a thunderbolt shot when it looks like he's only causally chipped the ball. For a huge bloke his close control and touch is magnificent - especially as he has the ability to do this with either foot. The clip also reminded me of the number of big games he has influenced. The clips also reminded me of the sheer impact his presence would have on team mates and opponents alike.

I feel privileged to have seen him play for City. I grew up watching Colin Bell and so for emotional reasons will always have him as my favourite City player. For me YAya and Dave are next in line - geniuses both in their different ways.

Since the takeover yaya has been our most important player on the field by a stretch for me. Has always stood up in the big games and scored the important goals (besides Sergio's) and has driven the side forward season after season. Has been awful at times this season but who hasn't?!? The last season we won the title yaya was just one of the best midfielders in the world and got 25 odd goals I think? Off the field though he and his agent have been complete dicks and even recently his agent has been near enough publicly blackmailing the club for a new deal? If yaya gets one he will give the hospital his brother died in £1m a year?!? No pressure on city then eh yaya?
