Until then he was undoubtedly one of the finest, most influential players ever to wear a City shirt or to grace the Premier League. Those runs were unbelievable and his eye for a pass truly exceptional.

Not just that though was it? There was a real physical deterioration in the last couple if years. Before that I always remember it seemed he had endless gears to go through with the ball at his feet and his speed was only limited by the length if the pitch when he got going.
