Yaya Toure

I've been known to have a moan about him and would have been happy to sell him two years ago when the rot started to set in.

However, I'm sure even his strongest critics would admit that it is only the last two years that have tarnished his legend. Until then he was undoubtedly one of the finest, most influential players ever to wear a City shirt or to grace the Premier League. Those runs were unbelievable and his eye for a pass truly exceptional.
Two years is a long time in football. It's certainly too long to be carrying a player. It's no shock that all the highlight reels on this thread and all the talk of him being a beast are based on what he did in the past. Those magic moments of his have given him plenty of leeway Considering how he's performed for the last 18 months.
Still, as I posted yesterday we didn't do bad overall from his time here and those initial 3 years justify him leaving as a City great.

Top top player

One of the all time greats for me to have played for City

It does show how far we have come when a player like this can be also labelled as having let us down for a year or so and that could be his legacy for a lot of fans.

For me the semi final and final winning goals will also rank up there

The camera never lies, and it was sad to witness his slow decline

However, in his pomp, he was arguably the most influential player to ever grace a sky blue shirt.

100% agree

A bit of an outlandish statement here but if we kept him could he make a decent centre back alongside Kompany if and when he returns?

outstanding player. left high and dry by his agent. quite how he would take advice and act on that advice off a man who has never kicked a ball in anger though is quite beyond me.

As much as I can't stand Seluk, he's earnt a fair few quid for Yaya. As it's been said before, if it wasn't for him we might not even have got Yaya in the first place.

Not just that though was it? There was a real physical deterioration in the last couple if years. Before that I always remember it seemed he had endless gears to go through with the ball at his feet and his speed was only limited by the length if the pitch when he got going. I don't know if it was the attitude or the legscthat went first, but both are shot now. Sad really.
