i have watched a fair deal of Barcas games over the years and Yaya has always stood out as an incredible midfielder... he is the essence of a box to box midfielder who has always passed well, had great vision and moveability (is there a word like that?)... he is all over the pitch and always where he is needed...

I was really thrilled at this signing and saw early on that he is so used to the Barca way of playing that he got confused in preseason... but his football brain ticked in and he is now adjusting to the players around him... he will be immense for us the years to come!!!

It made me laugh yesterday when Roy Hodgson was asked if he was envious of the riches available to Roberto Mancini. He said, "when you have people like Gerrard, Mascherano and Torres, to name but three, it would be very foolish to get envious". To name but three? He says that like he could go on just reeling names off. Go on then Roy, name me a fourth? In fact, he can't even name three any more now Mascherano won't play for them again.

played well the other night..still don't think hes up to full fitness yet, seemed to be chasing shadows abit towards the end of the dippers game and looked nackered when he game off..his creativity and passing ability is immense though! whats the crack with boateng anyone? where is he?

as far as i know with boateng he picked up a deep cut on his leg/ankle dont think he will be out for two long!

I am sick and tired of ignorant and useless no mark journalists telling us that Yaya is a defensive midfield player. Where do they find these pillocks. Anyone who came to the game against Olympiakos about 5 years ago would testify what a magnificent all power box to box midfielder he is.I am sure many of you have watched him with interest ever since. I never dreamed we would get him, imho he could be the best midfield player in the league. The fact that he played deeper for Barca is simply because they had two rather good and established central midfielders in Xavi and Iniesta.

I am surprised to an extent he became surplus to requirements at Barca.

He gave me the impression he wanted to stay at the club despite being frozen out of the starting eleven to a degree.

Maybe personality clashes or a new challenge or more money etc were the deciding factors.
