Yaya

Ive been telling my mates who support other clubs that this guy is a gonna be a beast fro us and Im very happy with what Ive seen so far and he's only just settling in. Yaya makes the game look so easy and will be pivotal to our hopes this year. He can play it simple, switch the play, split a defense or just keep hold of the ball, he's always available and always knows what is going on around him, a very special player indeed. He should still be playing for Barca but they prefer Busquets because of he's Catalan and has a famous father, our gain.
I think that once Silva settles in, these two will link up majestically with Carlos!
happy days we are building a cultured, skillful and classy team, at last!

Well it's easy for them to mock, because he's just spent a season on the bench at Barca. They said the same about Tevez being 3rd choice striker at the swamp.

Well, if these are the offcuts, the scraps, then keep em coming! All these naysayers will all have to take a large swig of shut up juice when we start doing it on the pitch.

It makes it even an more strange decision to let him leave Barca as they're now trying to sign Mascherano, and Guardiola says "If a defensive midfielder arrives the needs of the team will be resolved".

I am sick and tired of ignorant and useless no mark journalists telling us that Yaya is a defensive midfield player. Where do they find these pillocks. Anyone who came to the game against Olympiakos about 5 years ago would testify what a magnificent all power box to box midfielder he is.I am sure many of you have watched him with interest ever since. I never dreamed we would get him, imho he could be the best midfield player in the league. The fact that he played deeper for Barca is simply because they had two rather good and established central midfielders in Xavi and Iniesta.
Been saying this since before we signed him, he's almost the complete package as a central midfielder.
totaly agree against liverpool looked like he could have been playing center forward great player tho XD

And then there will be skill, pace and power to build around them De Jong, Barry, Kolarov, Milner, Johnson, Adebayor ect.

He's not a prolific scorer from midfield , and has probably averaged a goal every 13 games throughout his career , so it's obvious that his best work is done elsewhere .... but this is Yayas take on things .........

Although Yaya occasionally played in defence for Barcelona, he said City boss Roberto Mancini had bought him to play in his favoured midfield role. "I can play every position because at my academy back in the Ivory Coast, we were taught that," said Yaya.

"But my favourite position is midfield, because for me it involves a lot of work. You can run, give passes and do a lot to influence the game. I like to work hard, so that's my favourite position and where I want to play for City."

Hopefully when he loses his blubber he'll move a bit quicker and be even more effective.

The way he switched the ball with the whipped long balls from side to side for me was a particular highlight, only second to the amount of time he always had on the ball.
