The reason Mancini signed him and wanted him in his team. And why he is still playing him in a little more attacking role....is:

Mancini likes to have 3 central midfielders...and all of them have to be good defensivly. Thats the reason why he doesn't play Silva there. And Yaya is also very good at attacking.

Mancini likes his 40yard runs.
And he is powerful and creative too.

I know that's why he plays him there. I just don't think he should, certainly not in all games. I know he drops deeper away from home and I can accept that more. I disagree that he's particularly creative, though. He gives the ball away too much, too.

haven't you seen his pass to Balotelli against Villa for example? He has done some great killer ball assists.

I would still like us to play little more attacking. I dont think Yaya should play there too much either.

i think we should rest him on thursday, give him a breather before chelsea game.

i would go for de jong, barry and zabaleta in mid, than silva, tevez and dzeko up front, than i would bring yaya and vieira in the second half for de jong and barry, also bring balotelli for silva.
oh also i would start boateng and boyata as full back, richards and kolarov need rest.
than this should be our 11 vs chelsea

citysky, good shout. He has to be up there among most minutes played in all competitions this season, I'd rest him on Thursday myself, don't think Mancini will.

to be honest, I think if he was making a 'standard' 60-70k a week people would have no problem with him, but since NOTW says he makes 210k a week they expect the absolute best. And that's definitely within reason. I do think he's a good player though, I wouldn't play him in such an advanced position, but that's why I'm not the gaffer.

I think with his size and power he should be dominating in midfield and bullying the other midfield as Fellaini does for Everton, I certainly think there is a lot more to come from him.

Simply has neither the mobility,agility,stamina or aggression to be the midfield general we are missing.

Cannt work this guy out.....

At times he looks like a world beater, able to steam roller past half a team in 6 strides

At other times he looks like he would be knocked off the ball by a stiff breeze and he looks like he is about to pass out die to exhaustion!!! (int eh first 5 mins of a game!!)

His touch is sublime one minute.....extremely poor the next...he can make 25 yd incisive passes (like the one to balo in the villa game) but then he cannt pass a simple 10 yd ball to someone that would give us a chance of a break away

His work with the ball is generally good...but his work rate off the ball (especially winning back after he has lost it is poor)

What does everyone else think...I just cannt work him out at all

i see what you are saying, at times can be frustrating but when he's on his game he's awesome, glad we have him.

He needs to be played in front of the back 4 with Nige, unfortunately Bob rather likes Barry there because of his left peg.

Yaya is a player that will be immense for us next year when he has had a full season under his belt.
