Yaya

You won't get slated off me DD, you are spot on. Yaya is a huge problem in our side. people keep poimting to these so called bursts he makes from the half way line but you could count them on one hand. He never dictates midfield, never bosses it and for me is the one player above all who slows down the play to a snails pace.
If you watch him, when he recieves the ball, his body shape is all wrong, always facing our own goal therefore the flow of the move is stalled. Watch Silva who opens his body before recieving the ball and is invariably running on to the pass to keep momentum in a move. For me he has no use in our midfield, he's like an extra thrown in because we bought him. DeJong does the destroyer role, Silva the trickery, vision and passing, so we need either wide players or an extra body in the centre who also has pace and the ability to drive forward. That man is Milner who has a bit of everything. The defensive qualities Mancini is obsessed wih yet the drive to get froward. Sadly Mancini plays Yayas no matter what, he is his darling despite his limitations and obvious lack of mobility in the fast paced EPL.
But I forgot, on bluemoon one isn't allowed to be critical of players anymore so i'll change my opinion. He is a God who can do no wrong like mancini.
Great analysis and summary, why others can't see it is a mystery...?

For me, a midfield diamond of

........................De jong.....................

..............Ya Ya...................Barry

........................Silva................

With Tevez and either Balo or Dzeko up top would get the best from Ya Ya. But have we the full backs for that?

I like this, and a lot of people here thought in the summer that we were going to see a diamond, once we signed Silva and Balotelli.

Here's one for you - was Yaya a Mancini signing? It still surprises me that anyone would go out and buy such a player for that role. We know he can attack well at times, but he couldn't have been the name that sprang to mind when the club were considering options. He really doesn't tighten up the midfield that much - there's been a fair few games where he's really close to Tevez, so much so that he's effectively playing as a second striker. He played much deeper against Kiev, granted.

He seems like a bit of a galactico purchase, in all honesty, a big name Barca player that became available at the right time. Who was that in the picture with him when he signed, holding up the shirt? Marwood?

I think his only problem would be his lack of knowledge of the position. He has been playing like de Jong in his days at Barcelona now he is completely going forward. That goes back to the manager and his choice in the team. I like the guy, just think he is out of position, which considering that, he looks decent.

I mentioned this on another thread, along with Dzeko, both are very strange Mancini signings as neither really fit into the system or tactics he plays.

55m could, and should, have been spent far more wisely and alot of our current concerns would not exist....

It begs the question, just how much control has Bobby got?

That too is my concern.

I would hate it if players were being bought for the manager by people who have no accountability on the playing side.

The Dzeko signing is, for me, one of the most bizarre signings we've made seeing as the player does not fit into any style of play we undertake!

If players are being signed like this, then I would expect the manager to do the honourable thing and tell them where to stick it...

I think he fits fine when it's him and Balotelli. I think it takes a while to become accustomed to playing with Tevez as he can be quite unorthodox.

This board gets worse! It's now turned into 'how much power has Mancini got'!

I fucking despair.

And to say £55m could have been spent better elsewhere is an outrageous statement considering many of the other £15m+ players we already have at the club.

And for fucks sake how many times do people have to learn not to under estimate foreigners in their first season in the premiership! To right off Dzeko and Yaya are the ramblings of people with serious agendas.

You really do have anger issues, don't you?

Have you ever thought that maybe a football forum isn't the best place for you if you only want to hear your point of view?

Just a thought.

I don't see that as the issue at all. He's a forward who feeds off balls into the box. We don't put many in. We play a rigid 4-2-3-1 system . We already have our 1.

I think he can play, he's just doesn't fit properly.
