Yaya

I can't believe people advocate a midfield of Dinho, nando and Delph in some games....Yaya needs to hold their hands (and the hands of everyone else) to make three passes in succession, or to move a ball forward, or to mix something up from deep. The big man needs to stay on , I feel pep will loose our best or second best asset if he were to be sold. You don't replace world class players like YAYA, but you need to try accomadte him in certain (and note the word certain) games. Strikers, CAMs, there are many of those players around, CMs like YaYa are rare and he is what has made this team tick for the past 5,6 years

Spot on OB1.

Do you think we will make top four. ?

I virtually never make public predictions: mug's game. I still want to think about winning the league as far off as that may seem but you have to go one game at a time. Our players are capable of so much more and we will have to see if they can rid themsleves of the terrible underperformance that has blighted this campaign.

Now will all the dickheads who criticise Yaya understand how fucking awful we are without him?

This is my biggest critisism of Txiki. I a big YA YA fan. But it's obvious he is not going to and physically play every minute of every game. Yet we simply don't have the squad to play without him.

Nearly every fan picked that side per match. Myself included.
We looked defensively solid till that Hart howler. After that, our total set up was then floored.

We couldn't change up as we didn't have Ya Ya. We will never replace him with a player. We need to replace him with a system.

It's going to be a big overhaul.

We missed him tonight, badly, but has others have said, there's every chance he could have been a liability. That is the problem we face. We have four centre mids all totally different. Only really Fernandinho and Ya Ya compliment each other.

The Ferns puts too much pressure on Fernandiho's passing.
Ya Ya and Fernando remains a disaster.
Delph and Ya Ya, possibly but I feel Delph is a little naive and giddy in that two.
Fernando and Delph would offer nothing offensively.

Fair comment OB1 and I never thought I would be fearing top four before Xmas.

However, it just seems we rely on individual brilliance to grind out results. Yaya could be key over the remainder.

Good post although I would not have picked that side. I already posted this elsewhere:

Tonight he needed to freshen things up and maybe innovate a bit. I posted a team in the Cup Final prematch thread that I thought he should have considered for one of the two games so this is not pure hindsight; tonight I think he should have gone for something like this as a starting line-up:

Ota, Vinnie, Manga
Navas, Zab, Fern 1, Fern 2, Kola
Aguero, Bony

flooded the midfield with bodies plus 5 sets of fresh legs.

In all fairness, other teams are relying on horrendous personal errors to beat us.

I have consitently been of the opinion that the only way we win anything this season is with Yaya in the team making a telling contribution; as he did on Sunday.

In the summer, we must buy in a way that allows us to succeed without needing him, even if he stays. We should have broke the bank for Pogba last summer.

This post nails it.
