Yaya

Probably to simple to suggest it is just a little more rest he has had recently - Liverpool away, and the weekend. Definitely looked like the Yaya of a few seasons ago.
Like you say, don't know what the extra motivation was, but maybe it is just a case of managing him slightly better, and not playing every game?

Nah ... those bursts of power and pace, that wasn't about Toure being rested. That was about Toure having a motivation beyond just the game he's playing in IMO. Whether he wants to stay in the PL, or stay in Europe, or go to China, or even just convince Pep that he should be kept at City, he needs to be a leader in this run in and show his quality.

Unique, irreplaceable, one of a kind footballer who has been terribly managed this season.

Keep him and Pep will manage his playing time much better.

Without him in the team we look lost.

Role, it was just after Joe botched a kick out. He hit one of the Kiev players on the back and it could have been dangerous. As captain Yaya let him have it between the eyes. Joe made the mistake of answering back which prompted even more vein popping mouth foaming from Yaya. Good to see a bit of passion on the pitch

Thanks mate and I agree, good to see.

It's reward season time, yayas forte.... Even if the rest of the shower of shit can't get up for it, yaya, the enigma, will gallop home over the home straight, he always has and always will.... The most difficult player we'll have to replace in the cycle and still remains my favourite city player of all time!!!

He's irreplaceable. We'll sign two players to fill his hole which is the best we can do.

Are we sure Pep definitely won't use him ?

We aren't, no... However nev, I think yayas a stubborn mule himself, peps philosophy is harmony amongst his players and for me, he's known the guy up close and personal, he'll want no influences in 'his' dressing room from the start, which yaya undoubtedly has..... Let's not put it off anyway, he is declining, we can all see it, but it will take a big man to fill his even bigger shoes!!!

had a great game vs Kiev

it seems being rested at Norwich suited him?

maybe one game per week at his age is the way forward/

Him and aguero have been far and away the most important players to us in terms of contribution over the last 4/5 years.
Yaya has been at the heart of everything we have won - he has had a monumental impact on it all.
I hope his agent doesn't ruin that legacy for some fans. Huge player for us.

I agree.

But I'm not convinced he can't play in a Pep type pressing team provided there are enough bodies around him cutting his workload. As you say, I think it will probably be called on personality & if Pep decides he doesn't want that around. Interesting there was a snippet just the other day suggesting Yaya would be more than happy to play under Pep though & then this performance.

Either way it's about time your mate sorted Pogba out.

Yeah i agree i think he could play a similar role to Xabi, where he doesn't press as viciously as his team mates. You want your deepest playmaker to hold his position rather than charge around trying to cut off space. I still think he has a big part to play under Pep. He is still a better fit for a Pep team than any of our other central midfielders.

I don't think Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta, Thiago etc could play Yaya's typical position in a Pellegrini team. People would just run straight past them. In the right formation, their best qualities come out, rather than their weaknesses. It could be that there are several City players that applies to.

Yeah perhaps. I'm just thinking in terms of quality in possession, only Yaya is a good fit to play centrally, unless either Fern or Delph show us something none of us knew they had in terms of ability with the ball. Fernandinho could be effective in a Pep system but i do seem him being shunted away from the central areas.

Fernandinho was a much more creative link at Shakhtar. I wonder what Pep will make of Nasri if he gets fit.

Irreplaceable? Guardiola and Busquets disagree. It's not all about one player, the team come first. Maybe a like for like replacement isn't available, Pogba is probably the closest but then again Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich don't have either and they're not too shabby. A good team will always beat 11 individuals of similar quality, Yaya leaving and a different type of midfielder may get the best out of our other players.

Just imagine how good Aguero could be with runners from midfield getting into the box and creating space for him instead of being left isolated because we have to play two defensive midfielders to allow us to accommodate Yaya's lack of energy in big games. That's not mentioning how much it could improve Silva and De Bruyne's option if they had midfield runners. Just saying.

Yaya is a ridiculously good player at what he does but I think as a team we suffer because of the lack of energy and movement in midfield. Yaya isn't responsible for that, Pellegrini is for continuing to select him and not replacing him but we will move on from him at some stage and improve as a team I believe.

He can't play 3 games a week, mostly in a two man midfield, whatever. And won't be asked to do that if he does stay. Nobody in their right mind would ask him to do that.

Yaya pressed last night, he was the only one, it's like he was designated to go close down while the other 4 tucked in, Kiev were just popping the ball into space behind him and running at Fernando and dinho, again this was after demichelis came on and we were camped on our 18 yard box as he is scared shitless of pace

He was, but i'm still totally convinced by his passing range nor his ability with the ball. He's good, but he's not top class with it. IMO anyway. And Nasri could be a good fit and under a new manager he could have a bit of an upturn in desire. I hope he is given a chance.

Exactly, and Yaya's lack of energy is the biggest myth going. Rinse and repeat bullshit spouted by the same people who don't understand the system he is playing in.

He's looked knackered recently. He hasn't been able to do his pressing game, he needs a rest after the Derby.
