You could always work in a factory carlos (MERGED)

Carlos is just human playing in a foreign country a thousand miles from his young family.

He's a warrior on the pitch, and anyone who questions his attitude is bonkers. He's an example for every player. Not everyone can play in his style, but he's perfect Captain material in my book. An inpirational figure, and I liked the way he celebrated his last goal with Roque Santa Cruz, a player who is in danger of being marginalised at City

There is no way that Tevez should ever have been made captain in the first place, and this just is another example of that.

He's an excellent player, one of the best in the world, but his head isn't right and he will become a liability like all of these types of players do

I understand that he's not 'ideal' captain material, but he has so many qualities on the field which make him a fantastic captain, that I don't mind a little of the craziness.

Anyway, I said the other day I believe City will be Carlos' last European club, and for that reason, he'll be here for another few years until he's won it all (hopefully!) once more - then he'll move back to Argentina...

Just out of curiosity in which way do you think he could become a liability?

Correct title should be - You could always retire at the end of his contract and not have to work another minute for the rest of his life doing exactly what you want.

obviously I don't have all the details but why does he not bring his family over and put them in his gigantic house in a posh neighborhood? Why does his family have to stay overseas? I thought one of the bigger reasons he joined us from United was that (one of his) kids didn't have to switch schools?

Who knows, we're not his wife so we don't know what they've decided to do.

His girl was born this past January that's all I remember

I agree that he runs around a lot, but after 4 (?) years in the country, I would have expected him to have a greater level of communication in English than he already does. People put this down to 'tricking the media', etc, but it's rubbish really, even the other day on the Children's Hospital visit he could hardly converse. fully motivated individual shouldn't have this type of problem after 4 years, even Mancini's English (which is a stick he's often beaten with) is better than Tevez's.

I tend to believe that running around a lot on the field is far less useful than being able to motivate your team mates through communication. Can anybody see Tevez putting an arm around Boyata after a mistake, with some words of confidence?

The liability comment was just a general trend amongst players with poor mental attitudes rather than something that I see in Tevez particularly.

In addition to this, he's gone public on his grievances with the manager before, which should automatically rule him out of the captains slot, as it's unprofessional and causes nothing but trouble. Then we have the constant retirement comments, and the fact that he was made captain purely for his own self interest rather than the interest of the team.

I don't know who should be captain. Toure wasn't a bad choice, Kompany seems to be the future, perhaps Barry but he seems a little quiet. Maybe Yaya in time once he has settled.

Thing is, Tevez is a top player, but he seems flaky mentally too and I would certainly not be surprised if he did go at the end of the season in some engineered move to Madrid or even back to Boca (despite him ruling it out).

I think we have one more season (after this one) out of Tevez at best. I just have a feeling he's not in it for the long haul.

He'll take some replacing that's for sure. Not really a problem to worry about now though.

Tevez could quit football

I dont think this has been posted yet.

Carlos Tevez admits he has grown disillusioned with football and could walk away from the game at any time.

The Manchester City striker has revealed that the stresses of life as a Premier League performer are taking their toll on his body and mind.

He may only be 26, but the Argentina international claims his distinguished career to date has left him drained.

Tevez hinted over the summer that he could soon quit professional football after finding it hard to motivate himself for the new campaign.

He has, however, remained a stand-out performer for City and has been handed the captain's armband at Eastlands by boss Roberto Mancini.

That, though, has done little to curb Tevez's sense of frustration and he continues to mull over the possibility of hanging up his boots and stepping out of the spotlight.

"I have been playing many games this season, and my body is feeling it. I am tired," the South American superstar said in the News of the World.

"I started to play when I was really young and I have always fought so much but now I'm feeling the effort.

"I'm an old guy now, and I started to think about some stuff. For example, I am less tolerant as a person today than I was a few years ago.

"Then I think - what happens if I quit football as long as I am okay in my life?

"When I talk about quitting, I mean quitting football, not just the national team. But at the moment I still don't know if this is going to be in one month, one year, three or five years.

"I have the idea of quitting in my mind. Maybe one of these days, I will just wake up and say no more football."

Tevez, who has appeared in all seven of City's Premier League fixtures so far this season, added: "Not only my family but also my body is starting to feel the effort.

"I have worked and fought so hard, and I would love to enjoy my football.

"I have been playing in England for five years, and I have not spent a single Christmas or New Year with my family.

"Let me tell you I am not enjoying the life of a footballer."
