Re: Tevez could quit football

old news bud.

i think he said that during the World cup.

Re: Tevez could quit football

All over Newsnow. Hopefully it's just a rehashed story from last year!

I think having the captaincy could make him think twice anyway. I'd be devastated!

Re: Tevez could quit football

mind you he has been running his arse off with little or no support he could be fucked already? After all he didn't have long to recover after the WC.

I agree that he runs around a lot, but after 4 (?) years in the country, I would have expected him to have a greater level of communication in English than he already does. People put this down to 'tricking the media', etc, but it's rubbish really, even the other day on the Children's Hospital visit he could hardly converse. fully motivated individual shouldn't have this type of problem after 4 years, even Mancini's English (which is a stick he's often beaten with) is better than Tevez's.

I tend to believe that running around a lot on the field is far less useful than being able to motivate your team mates through communication. Can anybody see Tevez putting an arm around Boyata after a mistake, with some words of confidence?

The liability comment was just a general trend amongst players with poor mental attitudes rather than something that I see in Tevez particularly.

In addition to this, he's gone public on his grievances with the manager before, which should automatically rule him out of the captains slot, as it's unprofessional and causes nothing but trouble. Then we have the constant retirement comments, and the fact that he was made captain purely for his own self interest rather than the interest of the team.

I don't know who should be captain. Toure wasn't a bad choice, Kompany seems to be the future, perhaps Barry but he seems a little quiet. Maybe Yaya in time once he has settled.

Thing is, Tevez is a top player, but he seems flaky mentally too and I would certainly not be surprised if he did go at the end of the season in some engineered move to Madrid or even back to Boca (despite him ruling it out).

I think you do him a bit of a disservice. In many ways he leads by example just by running around a lot and harrying players. It's defending from the front and it's bound to cause centre halves problems, and sets the tone for the rest of the team. I know his English is piss poor, but I do remember AJ saying in an interview a couple of weeks back that he goes golfing with him regularly, so it's not like he has no rapport with his teammates. I take your point in that it's certainly not ideal.

You have to think that there must be a healthy mutual respect between Mancini and Tevez for him to have been made club captain. Even if the idea was to motivate Tevez by giving it to him, I think we're seeing the benefit in that in his performances, because other than 45 against Sunderland they have been top class. He's such a good player when he plays to his potential that it's almost worth it for that alone.

If we look beyond him then for me there's only Vinny in that team who would deserve it long term. I don't think Kolo was right last season and to be honest I think he'll get replaced by Boateng sooner or later. There could be a case for De Jong, but maybe Mancini plans to evolve his squad quickly to a point where Nigel won't be an automatic choice to start. Same with Barry.

Re: Tevez could quit football

I get fucking sick of the shit footballers spout in interviews.

Quote 'Let me tell you I am not enjoying the life of a footballer' well Carlos you have THE one job, playing centre forward for Manchester City, that pretty much every poster on here would fucking die for.

I would have thought the tough upbringing you had would had made you appreciate the lifestyle you now have.... seems not.

You need to stop moaning Carlos, that's not what is expected of the captain of a club like City. You moaned when you weren't getting games at the swamp and now you're moaning when you're getting games saying you're tired, you're 26 years old ffs! Just shut up and respect your contract.

Love tevez all you want, I'm happy about him too. But this nonsense is disgraceful. He is a drama queen.
