Young and new blues: How did you come to support City?

I'm 34 and was about 7 or 8 when the School had tickets for the Trafford lot and for City, they split the class into 2 Groups and I ended up going to the City Match. We lost 2-1 to Chelsea Neil McNab scored a penalty for us I remember. The Day after I begged my Mum to get me a City shirt and then my Love affair with City began.

I'm 16, and I am a brand new (a few weeks) City fan.

I live in Maryland, just outside of Baltimore, and my Dad runs a bunch of footie stores. He called me one day and said that he got free midfield tickets to the Inter v. City game. So, I went to the game, and even though City was losing 3-nil (and that they had the smallest number of supporters there) they still seemed like they were having a fantastic time. Man City's section was cheering, singing, and just being really upbeat the entire game, and thats what got me interested in City.

Was just born a blue...

Actually I asked my dad why were city fans (brought up in Dorset, dads from Manchester originally though). He said that he actually didn't know and that to ask my grandad why were all city fans.

I asked my grandad and he said "oh it's because your great great grandad played for Manchester city b!"

That's quiet cool actually. Any idea who that player was?
By my rough calculations that must have been pre-World War 1? I guess there aren't many records about MCFC B-team from those days sadly...

I'll ask my grandad his full name. He said it wasn't much to write home about but it was the reason that the family started following city.

Big welcome to all the new blues whether from Manchester, the UK or overseas. The more the merrier!

I support City by accident.
I used to watch Serie A and support SS. Lazio in 90s, my favorit player was Giuseppe Signori. Since local tv stopped broadcasting serie a and then broadcasting EPL. I was forced to change club i supported and i found City had very similar jersey with lazio, then i support City. my favorit player was kiki musampa!

I'm 25, I have a Dad story but he used to take me to Bolton games, back when they were in Division Two.
Living with my Mum I would often go to City games as her sister/my aunt dated city keeper Andy Dibble, so she took me along to games with freebies...

Started going to games by myself when i was around 11/12 at Maine Road.

Reasons for supporting this club?
The locality and stupidity (I never wondered why we struggled against the likes of Bury at home)

I'm 16, and I've been a blue from birth. Had a season ticket since I was 4, and at that age all I did was colour in on a colouring book. But as I got older, before the game started I used to go to where to tunnel was at Maine Road and ask for autographs, I always remember when Anelka threw his bobby hat out into a few of us that were there, but this girl (must have been a lezzer, proper butch etc) pushed me as I was about to catch it.

Then the day I will never forget, when it was the last day at Maine Road, there was a competition in the MEN, where 20 kids would be the mascot with each player, other than the captains of each team. You had to get to the ground early and they would pick 20 random kids. At that time, me and my cousin went with my grandad, mum, sister and aunty. So on that morning my mum made a banner that said '3 generations here today' she made us stand on the dining room chairs and practise holding up this big cardboard sign up. We got to the ground before the turnstiles even opened! So we were the first ones in, we stood on our seats and held this banner up, the time past and there was no sign of being picked; until, up pops this lad (20ish) in a full city tracksuit. He took us into this room and gave us a Main Road t shirt, City shorts and Socks. We then went into the players lounged and lined up in order, in 2 lines, me and my cousin were towards the back, in different lines. Then we made our way down the tunnel, where the players walked down and stood next to you, at first, Foe (RIP) stood next to me, I said to him: "You are in my fantasy football team" He replied with a massive smile on his face "Thats Great!" Even now I can hear him say it. Anyway some more players walked down and I was paired with Anelka, who at the time was in my books, second to the Goat and my cousin was paired with Beatie. We walked on to the pitch and I waved towards the North stand where the rest of my family were sat, we lined up, shook the likes of Mrs Mercer and Co's hand- I had no clue who they we're at the time and walked off high 5'ing keegan on the way back into the tunnel. You can see me on the dvd waving to the north stand, a proper close up as well, they used to show it on the coms tour.

At the time, I didn't realise how lucky I was, but now, every time I think about the time in the tunnel when I spoke to Foe, how I took part in history, on the last day of Main Road.

Now I sit in the North Stand Level 2, with my Mum, Dad, Sister, Grandad and best mate. However, when there's a cup game, I relocate to the south stand. I also go to as many away games as I can financially afford. Also going to try and get to my first European game this season.

For me, I couldn't care less if City had the money, I'd still follow them. Once a Blue, Always a Blue!

I am 23 years of age and i have always supported city. The reason is simple, my dad made me and told me that i was to be a city fan. Once when i was about 7 i came home from school and told him that i was going to support united for a bit. These were his exact words to me. "thats fine son but i will never ever take you there, buy you a shirt or anything to do with that club. But most of all i wont lovd you anymore, the choice is yours" needless to say i started crying and my mum went mad at him. The thing is those words have stayed with me for life. Thankgod i listened to him. Thank you dad, thank you.

I've always supported my local team, Dunfermline. I started following City as well in 1996 (i think), when the strip with the kappa logos down the sleeve came out. I was only 8 and my dad took me out to treat me to a new football kit and i thought that was the coolest strip I had ever seen. The fact that I worshipped Oasis also helped as I heard Noel talking about City loads. As i grew up I continued to follow City and I finally managed to get down to a few games over the last few season and hope to get to a few more this season! I've had to tell this story quite a bit over the past year or so as when people up here see me with my City top on, they just assume you are a new City fan, only attracted to the wealth of the club.

Everyone in Iceland is a Rag or a Chelsea fan, and ofc some Liverpool fans, but ever since my dad introduced me to City back when i was like.. 5, I've fallen in love with the club.
