How did I miss this thread?! Anyone got a Dobermann? The mrs is desparate for one. I already have a 5 year old mongrel, but the mrs wants something which 'is ours', (WTF?!). We both like Dobermann's but with 3 kids in the house, are they safe?

if you have the dog first then get kids that's when a problem can sometimes arise.

i hbad a doberman that would stand at the side of my daughter when she was learning to walk. Daughter would put one hand on the dogs back and they'd toddle around the house together.

Just don't tell the lady friend she gets to the pick the name, I fell for that one, she wanted to call him Flake (Choc Lab), I managed to get her to change it to Fudge, slightly more manly yet bent at the same time....

Good idea! The one I have now is called Monty, a name full of embarrasment when I call him in the park. I have my wanky mate to thank for that as he and his mrs got him, found out she was allergic and I adopted him off them. He was already used to the name though so....!!
