Your favourite ever City away game?

It would have to be my first ever game watching City at WHL back in the back 70's when i was a nipper.

I was too young to remember much about cup final v Birmingham, Spurs replay in '81 was a good evening out spoiled by the result, so going across the ocean for a weekend at Wembley v Stoke was the best awayday memory I will take to the Main Road in the sky.

Moving swiftly on to least favourite, recall being a trifle unhappy when my ultra-trendy orange Austin Metro wouldn't start after a night match in Shrewsbury.

(Think we won 1-0, Morley, snowing?)

It was indeed. Virtually the last kick of the game at the far end of the field and we could hardly see what had happened because of the mist. And then as we came out of the ground it started snowing. I was living in Birkenhead at the time and nearly had to kip in the car for the night it was coming down so hard

I'd been at the Brighton away game 3 days earlier and the heat had given my banana a slow puncture standing on the open end on the side of the Goldstone, stayed down there to visit relations with Mrs Moon in Hastings then drove to Shrewsbury, snowed like fuck towards the end of the game, Griffiths scored late on I think. Driving home was difficult the motorway line markings had disappeared.

Loved the days when you could just roll up at an away match and get in. I got into derbies like that, no problem. Was in the paddock part at OT that evening that Rodney Marsh scored a phenomenal goal to win it for us. I miss the easiness and improvisation of it all. Now you've got to plan it like a war campaign.

Been advised to change my choice of match in previous post, instead now picking Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in October 1984. Was living in London at the time and saw City lose that Saturday afternoon. Went to a pub in Putney to console myself and was sitting at the bar with a pint of Youngs when the lass next to me asked why I looked so glum, and suddenly I wasn't. She just reminded me.

Far too many to mention but one that sticks out for me is Blackburn 2000. Got tickets for the side to the right of the City fans which must have been about a 50/50 split. First half was a nightmare, goal down and they hit woodwork 3 times. Second half was one like being in dreamland. Final whistle we all jumped over wall and ran onto pitch. In my pissed up state I got to the centre circle before remembering I was with my 7 months pregnant wife who couldn't get over the wall!! Found her about 10 minutes later, she wasn't happy. 2 months later little'un is born and he has now had a season ticket for 10 years.
