Your first Away game.

Hmmmmm in a world of Black and White TV's and two channels, no mobiles-Internet-microwave cooking-channel tunnel-pre decimilisation and Punk.
6th round FA Cup 1967 away to Leeds, thousends packed in the away end for hours in a steady drizzle.
Unfancied and hovering above the relegation zone. We were there as cannon fodder till we kicked off.
Leeds were out played and out fought, we scared the hell out of them and lost late in the game to a Jack Charlton header as he fouled the keeper which I think was Dowd.
Wonderfull day though.

My first away game was tranmere rovers we was all in the kop end, in 97/98 i think! i got tommy wrights autograph and i think we drew 0 - 0. think they had a bush above the tunnel in the maine stand.
this was my first away game! i remember someone had a cardboard cutout of alan shearer in a city kit. we drew 0-0 and at that point i had never seen city score over a period of 6-7 years.

Bolton W away, think it was 78 or 79, it was one of Steve Daleys first games, might of even been his debut. Me and 3 mates aged 9 got the number 8 bus, got off outside Burnden Park about 12 in the afternoon and got jumped by about 20 Bolton teenagers, fled into a shop shittin ourselves. We didn't end up going in the ground it was kicking off everywhere and got chased back down Manchester road. Does this count? I made the effort to get there and got my first ever smack on the nose, happy days

My first away match, other than the annual trip to the rags, was in 1968 to Newcastle.

I remember standing at Eccles Cross waiting for the coach which took us to St. James Park. As a mere youth, couldn't believe the amount of beer in the boot of the coach.

Unbelievable atmosphere as City won the 1st Division championship.
Best bit was later that night stopping at the Motorway services and meeting Sunderland fans who where celebrating their win at the rags (against all the odds).

not sure, so long ago! i think it was leeds away about 1978 i think cloughie was leeds manager, cant remember the score (anyone?) so much trouble it was like a war zone!

notts county away in the fa cup replay in about 1994 with a lad form my school. other than it being my first away game it was memerable as david brightwell scored.

Stoke 1974, the place looked like it had been hit by an air raid when we left, city fans smashed the place to bits. Scarey but exciting.

Burnley about 75 i think. I was 12.
Yelloway coach from Middleton
Denis Tueart missed a penalty and
if i remember right the ref ordered a retake
and he blew that one too.

my 1st away game too, I think it was the 1st away game after the league cup final in 76 so still havn't seen us win a major trophy. So for now couldn't give a toss about a top 4 finish, I just want a trophy.
