Your top three likeable managers over the last fifty years?

I dont think Pep is going to win any personality competitions is he?

Great manager and all that he is.

Having spent a little bit of time in his company, and although not strictly counting as he was a City player rather than manager, I would say Mick McCarthy is a great bloke.

Guardiola is City's best

Most likeable:
Mercer, Mancini, Horton.

For other clubs:
Brian Clough, Robson, Busby.

Nobby Hortons my favourite. A lovely guy who still loves the club and who felt privileged to manage it. Unlike a certain Mr Ball.

Don't believe we've ever had a dislikeable manager have we?

In no particular order
1.joe royle
2.pellers
3.bobby Manc

Honourable mentions to Mercer, pep and big mal of course

Met Pearce a few times and, despite the shit football and psycho moniker, found him a very nice, down to earth and softly spoken chap

Bobby manc
Joe Royce
Brian Horton

Can’t say Keegan because of his treatment of The Goat

Good job Swales isn't in charge, as he'd sack Pep for his "lack of repartee" with the crowd! Managers aren't paid to be amiable, they are paid to win football matches.

Having said that, Joe Mercer was a lovely bloke, I thought the world of Mancini, and Joe Royle was certainly likeable.

In the rest of the world, Matt Busby and Bobby Robson always came over as gentlemen with dignity and grace (unlike some!) while Clough was an amazing character. Bill Shankly was a cut above most of the modern breed too.

Joe Mercer/Malcolm Allison.

You had to put them together as they were a great team. Took a club in the doldrums and going nowhere fast and for a glorious five year period made us one of the most entertaining and successful in our history at that time. Both great characters too.

2. Roberto Mancini.

Irrespective of who he fell out with behind the scenes the majority of fans loved him. Instilled a steely will to win and discipline into a club that was treading water in spite of the huge spend on players. Tore down that banner as he promised and gave us the 6-1 and first trophy in 35 years.

3. Pep Guardiola.

The final piece in the ten year plan. Elevated our football and professionalism to another level and a genuinely nice human being and sportsman too.
A man who knows his stuff !
