Your worst ever City game witnessed?

i remember a different wimbledon game
they were fouling for fun and were playing off side traps at every free kick ,stepping up
the city side at the time had no answer to this, so the whole game consisted of free kick after free kick what a yawn !

Worse for actual quality I think I've lost count but worse for the result and what it meant/how it made me feel etc, well Luton and that spunk stain kerb crawler Pleat stands out but these two in particular, you know when you get that feeling you are fooked long before it happens ? Well these two matches were part of that, the latter just summed up a season in one 'brilliant' moment:-

city 1-oldham 2 1998 weather was awful, performance wasnt much better and a male streaker to top it off... first game i ever went to aswell :(

How about at Birmingham in the mid 70's thumping us with a 4-0 result that really hurt, was sat in their main stand, got found out by the home fans where I came from and boy did they pour it on, still I think we managed to put three past them when they came up to Maine Rd........

Prob. Lincoln City Away.. League Cup.. 4-0.. 1st leg.. Lincoln fans bangin' a big bass drum 'you're not famous anymore' etc.. we gathered down in the corner ready to go on in a desperate bid to get the match abandoned. I'll never know why we didn't, think common sense kicked in, no point gettin' nicked and fined, though a ban would have been a blessing to most of us. The 2nd leg at Maine Rd was made bearable by perhaps the best tannoy announcement ever to the 8000 turn out.. I think they scored again 5-0 agg, and the announcer kicked in with 'depending on the result of tonights game, the game against.. ' the rest was lost in the laughter.. we spent the rest of the night watchin' a western under the Kippax, think they opened the bar in sympathy. (memory isn't what it was so feel free to correct the attendance, and the score, dont think I'm far off though)

Mate, that was hilarious to read. The thought of you and your mates huddled around a TV watching a flipping western about sums up those times!!! Quality!!!

We were winning that game 1-0 away, Rosler I think.

Half time at Maine Road whilst 4 goals down they announced ticket details if we made it to the next round.

At Maine Road, cant recall the year (though mid / late 90's???)
Lost 4-0 against Wimbledon....... maybe it was later and Keegan was manager.
Whenever it was - it was dire!

well wimbledon wernt even a team when keegan was in charge so that rules that one out

Well, this was the first game I took the missus to (1999). Wimbledon WERE very much a team that day, cos they battered us.
I told her she was a jinx. She mithered me to death to take her to the next home game and I told her no fuckin' way. We won the next home game 4-1.

Most shameful was Halifax (I went to get tickets for Southampton (a) the monday morning after and the guy in the ticket office said"You must be f**king mad!". He'd probably get the sack now!).

Most gut wrenching was the Luton relegation game.

The worst for actual quality was Warnock's Sheffield United coming to Maine Road in a 0-0 draw in the 2000-01 promotion season. They kicked us, time wasted and were generally as obnoxious as their manager and then Warnock said they were considering sueing Tiatto when he inevitably 'lost it' and put in one of his infamous tackles.

Yesterday: Maine Road FC 3 Bacup Borough 2 ...now that was one hell of a good game!
