Zabaleta confirms he will stay at City

Watching him yesterday I think he's probably done at City, but I'd love to be proved wrong.
I thought yesterday showed the opposite. He can no longer be a starter against the very top teams in the league or the CL but if we finally get our arse in gear and buy a new RB then there are at least 20 games a season he can do a job.
The question is wherever Zaba would be happy with a bit part place in the squad and I'm not sure if he would. He deserves to be playing as many games as he wants and he's certainly good enough to start regularly for plenty of teams.
Hopefully any talks taking place in the Summer will be positive.

he`s been struggling a bit since his injury, but if any player at this club deserves time to see if he can get over this injury and regain his old form its Pablo Zabaleta.

if not, i would like him to stay in some coaching capacity see if he can pass on his knowledge but especially his mentality to our young up and coming.

of course this would be if it was pablo`s wish

I'm not convinced he could play regularly at fullback for Pep but I'm also not convinced that every player Pep wants to use in every position has to be a football genius provided they can pass with both feet & understand his instructions. I could see Zabba used as a utility player in different systems.

But the huge problem is the bastard internationals & Zabba has said so. He knows he'll be arriving unfit whilst Pep is working with other players.

Isn't Denayer spending a lot of his time playing as a right back, dependant on where Pep sees him fitting in we may have 3 right backs next year. If so Zabba is right to be considering his future.

He is, but the way he plays is so much like a Pep cb that I would imagine that will be his main position. But again, he is another who will turn up unfit whilst Pep is working with others, due to internationals, so he has no chance to state a case for playing either.

According to Lake on gmr yesterday Zabba is still the man.
He especially liked the crunching tackle that flattened Arnautovich, saying his commitment was a great fillip for the rest of the team and his leadership (when certain others senior players fail to inspire) was priceless.

Lakey talking sense as usual.

I thought Zabba had a good game, albeit against poorly motivated opposition. It's far too soon to write him off.

Met Zabba briefly after training at the CFA last week. Top guy and you could see the steely determination that has contributed to our successes!
