Zabaleta confirms he will stay at City

There should be a job for him somewhere, second favourite player of all time in 47 years of supporting the mighty blues behind my all time hero Joe Corrigan. He's got more passion and desire in his big toe than most of the squad put together.

I think the club would offer him a job, but would he take it? He's only 31, he might want to spend another 2 or 3 years somewhere. Inter perhaps, for a Mancini reunion. Back to his childhood club of San Lorenzo(and back to Argentina) maybe.

Probably my favourite ever City player but the reason he is my favourite is the same reason that I always suspected his career right at the top would be shorter than it would for most players. It's a bit sad to see him off the pace and it's difficult to imagine him getting anywhere near the level he was a few years ago and the reality is that no matter how much we all love him, if he's not playing well enough then he shouldn't be picked for the big games. I hope we offer him a new contract and if he's happy to play a bit part then he can sign it, if he's not happy (which he won't be) then he can go and we should make it easy for him to go wherever he wants to end his career. It'll be sad but not the end of the world, it was always likely to happen at some point. Definitely the kind of person who should be offered a role at the club in years to come because he "gets us" in a way that some of our players almost certainly don't. The word legend is used too much these days but IMO he will go down as a genuine City legend.

Going to be a sad day when he leaves. One of my favourite players of all time. Just give him an extension.

I think if he got the opportunity to remain under Guardiola he'd jump at it, get coaches badges in the process and the next Guardiola is born!!

If he steps out of international competition and gives himself some much needed rest.... I can see Pep using him. But thats obviously not going to happen. And as another Blue pointed out to me on here.... at 60k per week, he's not going to retire for a while. Whatever happens, he deserves a testimonial and a job at the club. Will be tears in my eyes when he goes.

If any player has serious intentions of going into management in the near(er) future, then the lure of learning from Guardiola should outweigh what can be (l)earned in a couple of seasons elsewhere.
