Zabaleta or Sagna?

Zabaleta looks to me like he has finally hit the brick wall after playing pretty much every game for the past three and a half seasons/ 4 seasons, plus a World Cup included last summer.

I do worry about him because he has the Copa America not just this summer but next as well because it's the Copa America centenary.

I thought Sagna and Navas were both very good against Chelsea and were a bit unlucky to be dropped.

I'm convinced that it is this constant rotation that has caused many of our defenders to be in poor form.

I agree Zabaleta is not having his best season so far. Very few are to be honest.

As for Zab, why?
- Because he played nearly every game last season and in Pellegrini's style of play that means he needs to cover a lot of ground?
- Because he played the WC?
- Because so far he played most games as well?
- Because maybe his selfconfidence was slightly damaged when Sagna was picked vs Chelsea?
- Because he's not the most technical gifted player and therefore it's hard for him when underperforming to mask it?
- Because he 's the kind of player that needs stability around him i.e. a steady pair of centrebacks?
- Because everyone has a bit of a dip during the season and he's having his now?
...

There can be numerous reasons for this and so far when Sagna did play he has hardly been an improvement. We look back at the Bayern and Chelseagame when he did well (except for letting Hazard running away from him to deliver their goal), but he played a few more in less convincing ways. So I'm sure Pellegrini who seems to puts in a lot of trust in Zabaleta, will think very hard to replace him for a more sustained period.

A little harsh on Sagna. He did not let Hazard run away from him, he was in the right place at the time the pass was made to Hazard. Zaba would have been in exactly the same place.

Horses for courses, that's why Sagna gets picked for some games and Zaba others. They both have talent that the other hasn't which gives Pellers options.

I always wait a while before posting in these type of threads,as I'm unsure sometimes if a woman may of started it...

Zabaleta for me.
