In some universe...

...Dickov’s shot didn’t go in, we stayed in the second division, bleeding more and more money (and what talent we had), eventually falling down in to the conference, after administration, where we are now perennial contenders for North League champions.

...Aguero’s long range shot went in against Liverpool, ending the game 4-4, buoying us moving forward, and absolutely crushing any momentum Liverpool had built up, leading them to drop 12 points more by season end and finishing outside of the top six.

How about Dickov played the two previous seasons like a footballer and we wouldn't have ended up in the third division. Or Dickov played the 98-99 season as a footballer and we wouldn't have needed the bloody play-offs.

I think if the aguerooooo moment hadn’t happened we’d have fallen apart and would have no belief to ever get the better of the rags again. I don’t think we’d have ever won the league

Mario balotelli scores a last minute winner against the rags to send them down to the championship... it was his 95goal of the calendar year breaking messi's recore. Neville and carragher applaud the man city board for hiring Brendan Rogers as manager to replace chappy as hes worked wonders with the troubled Italian.

Haha, harsh but probably fair.

Could be said of quite a few from 1996 to 1999, though. And less stridently after that, as well.
