Interesting table calculating past transfers into today's value

How did they calculate today's fees? Using straight inflation rates or some other magic?
I did read how they did it, I can't recall the precise mechanism, but think they use the some average cost of a premier league transfer in each season.
Incidentally I seem to recall that one of the reasons why Aguero figures so highly is that he was bought during a rare period of deflation.

A simplistic way of calculating the inflation rate of the PL would be to compare the average of say, the first 3 years of season ticket prices at the beginning against the average cost now. Some of you old timers should remember what it used to cost.
