Claudio Bravo - 2016/2017 performances (continued)

I disagree with that. We had a goal keeper, a really good one who would get into most of the other top teams had they already not got excellent keepers themselves. We've replaced him with someone who stands between the sticks and can pass the ball better than his predecessor, but that's pretty much it.
The comparison to the strikers was that we have a low centre of gravity striker who scored plenty, and replacing him with long would give us the same kind of striker but who doesn't do his job that well - score goals.
Another way to look at it is, if another club had got rid of Hart for Bravo and the same performances had happened, would you sit there understanding why he was brought in or would you laugh at that situation?

That's not pretty much it, Bravo is Chile's captain, he was Barca's first choice for the last couple of seasons, he's a very good keeper, with his hands as much as his feet, he hasn't shown the former for us yet, granted.

The reason I chose Higuain is because I was trying to find someone at a similar level but with a different style as we're talking about two different style of keepers.

As to your last paragraph, I'd probably do both, understand why it was done but laugh at the fact that it wasn't working out, just like I did with De Gea in his first season for the rags for example.

It's not really akin to replacing Aguero though, as he is one of the very few world class players in the PL. Neither of the aforementioned goalkeepers are any where near approaching world class and never will be. Hopefully Bravo pops into the confidence shop in the summer but, if he doesn't, another answer will be found. In the meantime, having a go at the fella on here is obviously not a problem but having a go whilst he's playing for City? Not right I'm afraid (not just Bravo but anyone playing for City) and never will be.

I thought the comparison was fair as I've compared two players fairly similar in ability but with different styles.

I do hope it works, by the way. I just can't see it in him and usually I can see where someone is going wrong through form or whatever. Time will tell.

Absolutely so. We should be supporting our players during games.

The guy left BARCELONA to come play here. For that alone, he deserves respect.

Those mocking him when between the sticks should hang their heads in shame. Perhaps getting behind him might be the answer.

He'll be number two for the year now, but give him some respect folks.

the problem is that as number 2 he'll play in the fa cup. that's our chance gone right there. should we beat boro we will be heading to Wembley knowing we'll be going out. if Pep is this football genius surely he'll see that and play willy. I love going to Wembley but if there's a chance he'll be in goal I might just duck it. the sooner he is out of our club the better. we are Manchester City and we don't do mediocre.

Well done Pep for praising him in the post match Interview, stopped the haters in their tracks, I'm not a Bravo fan at all but its great to see the Manager standing by him come what may..!

There you go again talking bollocks. We have beaten both the rags and Arsenal with Bravo between the sticks so to say him playing in the FA Cup blows our chance to win it is just bollocks.

You sound like a rag with that last sentence, sorry to say that but it's the truth.

That's some wonderful support right there.

The lad moved his young family to a new country and knew coming here that he'd face a backlash due to who he was replacing.

That wasn't his fault, he didnt opt to sell Joe.

People have short memories. We all went nuts when Caballero was selected in the Cup game, and you know what? He turned it all around, and credit to him.

Bravo deserves the same chance.

there is no way willy has ever performed as badly as bravo as. you can hail a loser if you like but I want to win things.

2nd save into the video. That's what we would expect from bravo against Huddersfield, when your bodyweight has shifted the other side, use your leg to react to a save.

Completely different type of save required against Huddersfield, he dived the right way but the deflection took it under him, still should've reacted but the comparison you offer is not a good one.

come on he didn't even dive. Look at the 60fps video. He didn't even dive when the player connected and the deflection was trivial at best it didn't even change the trajectory. Even without the deflection a good striker could have made the same trajectory. He was simply beaten by the pace of the ball. He's slow to react and this has been said of him as he has been trained since 13 to anticipate not react. You don't anticipate powerful shots like that or the likes of Deeney, Defoe, Vardy. They shoot with power. Stick a leg out, don't try to save with your hands near your ankles. The same mistakes de Gea did in his first season. He needs a new coach, Xabier is ok but we need someone like Battara back to get him to speed against reactionary strikers

Ok there wasn't much of a dive, he set himself to dive to his left though, then the ball deflected which did change the direction quite significantly meaning a shot that would have gone to his left at about knee height ended up on the floor as it passed him. I'm not excusing him, he should've reacted but your comparison isn't a great one at all.

Thought I would put in my first tenpenny worth (used to be tuppence but that's inflation for you). Every time we get a new outfield player everyone says it takes a season to get used to the Premiership. We get a goalkeeper and he is supposed to settle down immediately. He has had to get used to a defence that has struggled to adopt Peps values. Add to that the perpetual sniping from everyone it is no wonder the guy looses confidence. I thought he did little wrong on Wednesday seeing as he had little to do all night. I still think he will come good but, of course, the media will never let go.
