What does not seem to be discussed is the absolute arrogance of a Polish ex-PM, now a 'EU leading light' making such a proclamation about a land border between 2 major European nations - Spain and the UK - without any consultation with either of them.

Why don't they apply to remain in the EU , they're not part of the U.K. ( unlike Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland).
Not sure why they were allowed a vote.
They could still remain a Crown Dependency and stay in the EU.

And speaking as someone experienced in negotiations, it was interesting that having set out some detail of how I would approach negotiations some days ago none of the Remainers sought to challenge any aspect of what I posted.
Certainly I have not seen any suggestions from a Remainer of how to manage the negotiations - just cheap shots to run the UK down.

That's because we're all reasonable people wanting the best possible deal for the UK and the EU.
We can't have the best possible deal (the status quo) and the next best possible deal (the same arrangements but outside the EU with no vote) has been ruled out by the Daily Mail. So everything now is beyond what Remainers want, and anything we suggest is treacherous in your eyes, running down the UK. Simply, May is acting against her own (previous) view of the benefits of membership, running under this jingoistic flag of the "will of the people" (I don't think many voted for your approved negotiating tactic of a scorched earth / jump off a cliff ultimate threat).
The negotiations are in the hands of people who don't agree amongst themselves (I'm not sure Boris even agrees with himself). They are their own enemy within. They don't need us.
Article X of the Treaty of Utrecht seems designed to prevent Gibraltar being used to avoid Spanish import duties so Spain agreeing to any deal seems well within the terms of the Treaty. Preventing Gibraltar being a duty free mecca for Costa del Sol tourists seems eminently sensible.

No - it is what it is. There will always be some of the herd that will not have the wit to do what is right for them at a given point in time.
It seems only commonsense that if you are a Remainer then in June 2016 you vote to Remain - if you are a Remainer that wishes the best for the UK in the future then you get behind the UK in the 2017 - 2019 negotiating period.
Commonsense perhaps, but not all UK citizens have commonsense and a number would rather see the UK struggle to the benefit of the EU

You cannot expect the 48% who voted to remain to just down tools if the gov are making an arse of it.
They need scrutinised and called out. That's democracy where there should never be a free ride in anything.

That includes opposing them when I don't agree. You never support or agree with everything. That's impossible but you need to challenge and try to influence policy.
I'm too fucking moany to give anyone a free ride. They need to earn support. This gov is taking us into I chartered waters and we have a duty to keep and eye on where they are steering us.

It's like the previous 17 years of Farage and 23 years of UKIP didn't exist. Everyone was just 'getting on with it' and
making Britain Great again' until 2016 when we had an accidental referendum that no-one campaigned for. And now everyone is just getting on with it again in the fight to make Britain Great again.

You still haven't answered how that manifests itself. Do I trust them to get the best deal? I trust them to try. It's just that their interpretation of best might not be mine.
Are you suggesting we just say nothing but cheer from the sides regardless of how things progress?

I think we let them at least start the process and see where its heading before demanding heads on a spike.
I live and work in Scotland and passionately believe in the union but trust me, if and when Scotland votes to leave and its only a matter of time imo, if im still alive i will then get behind it and wish it a complete success because thats surely in our best interests?

If it helps the debate mine is fairly normal in size and girth although these days as the years advance I find myself having to take a 2 or 3 day 'run up' if I need to use it in anger.
