It's Quiet - a new dawn

Should have explained myself more re Deco/Ronaldinho comment.

Yes it worked at barca but my fear is Pep will be reckless in forcing big names out at City because of how it worked last time and it might backfire big time here!

Deco and Ronaldinho were the leaders of a party culture which wasn't good for Barca. Ronaldinho was also showing signs of decline, bad moral and discipline issues. Pep were fully justified in selling those two, and had good reason to. And looking at what he achieved afterwards it showed it was the right decision.

We need goal scoring midfielder someone like James Rodriguez. Also i won't mind Alexis, we need Marquee players upfront. Even if Aguero stays we need Alexis and if he leaves oh boy... We will surely need someone explosive, maybe Aubamayang.

I think if Aguero chooses to leave, and it will be his decision in the end, then we need to go all in and try to land Mbappe.

I rate Aubameyang, he's on par with Lewadowski in the Bundesliga and had a great provider-scorer partnership with Gundogan when the latter was fit, but Kun is better and we need to both improve and buy long term wherever possible this summer.

This window is absolutely clinical, given all the players that will be leaving even without Sergio electing to move on. Let's hope Txiki can get Pep the players he needs and the club will be willing to pay the price, financial and otherwise.

I know Pep has ultimate faith in his own ability but if he sells Kun - he is putting huge pressure on himself. He got rid of Hart (the right decision) and brought in a dud replacement. With Kun its less about the replacement and more about us collectively converting our chances. Selling Kun is a very brave decision and it will invite significant scrutiny and just add to the pressure he/we will be under - during the early part of next season

He's sold better players, Ronaldinho being one. I doubt he'll be under pressure.

Sorry , But the only superstar we are linked with is sanchez , the rest either overrated players or Not a pep style players .
We need superb scouting work from Txiki .

In what sense is Mbappe over rated? Price wise? Transfer fees haven't made sense for a long time. I don't think we will get Mbappe but his performances this season have justifiably been praised, especially for an 18 year old.

I think it's likely we're going to get something along the lines of:
Ederson
Van Dyke
Walker
Mendy
Tielemens

That's probably going to cost north of £200m, and not of them are really anything to get excited about. But they're probably exactly what we need.

We've spent the last couple of summers getting excited about Sané, Sterling, Moreno, Zinchenko, Jesus, DeBruyne, even Roberts to an extent. It's easier to get excited about attacking players. But in truth, we've needed to invest in some world class full backs for a long time.

I think this summer should be one where we make all the signings the team actually needs and don't worry too much about how "marquee" they are.

I am all in on Mbappe as well, but only if we have one senior forward in his prime (Aguero staying) or Getting Alexis. Because otherwise 4 young forwards can be very problematic.

I see alderweireld isn't signing a new contract and is being linked with us?

Reports coming in that he has rejected a contract extension twice. Will be a superb addition if he comes.

Apparently he wants a contract with a 23.5mil release clause which basically is him looking for a move surely.

We should have been in for him as soon as he was done at Southampton. Still frustrates me that spurs for Vertonghen and Alderweireld for about 25mil combined.

The release clause for their main threat/rival's star player, in a summer where they had money burning a hole in their pocket after mugging the rags for Pogba.

So you agree that an Argentine striker nearing the end of his career was purchased for more than 70 million by a team in a league that is notorious for not paying high transfer fees.

So, we are crazy to expect 70 million for Aguero?

Yep. We'll be making it fairly clear he's unwanted and he is unlikely to sign a long term deal as he wants to go back home in 2 years. If he had a 75m release clause, a rival wanted him and we were refusing to negotiate there'd be a better chance.

Alderweireld is on 53k a week currently so could easily double that elsewhere.

Spurs' wage policy is admirable, but now some of their best players are seeing themselves compete for top honours now they want the wages their colleagues around them are receiving.

Kane for example could quite easily demand 200k a week this summer.
