It's Quiet - a new dawn

I agree with everything you say. My worry is say we offer 90 million for mbappe. Then united say fuck it, we'll go 120 million. Not saying that will happen, but i have a feeling united are'nt gonna fuck about this summer.

Not sure they can keep doing it though mate? Bottom line is that turnover is fantastic if you are genuinely making decent money but their debt is rising higher than ever and if Ajax do beat them then no champions league will certainly cost them more money again! These Banks will have to control them at some point as they can't keep adding onto their debts

Our season in one game today, no excuses. We have to go out and beat Watford, this is no easy task as they showed against Chelsea they can be dangerous.

Happy with all the ones we are linked with so far, it is going to be a really interesting summer window. One thing i will throw into the mix is the possibility to maybe try and sign Coutinho from Liverpool. He is proven in the league and plays in that pocket that Silva does for us. I honestly think that he could be a possible long term replacement for him given his skill set and passing ability

Anyone one else take him ?

I hope your right. But then you could use barcelona as an example, every year we hear that they need to sell a star play player but it never happens.

Can't do it consistently like silva, he can light one game up then be completely anonymous the next.

United will beat Ajax. It's a foregone conclusion. Accept it now or be disappointed on Wednesday.

And United will spend huge sums this summer because they have no choice but to do that. So they'll sign at least 1 player that we wanted, maybe more.
Which will pish us towards Plan B players which could impact our effectiveness next season.

And United with enough extra good players will gel and progress despite Mourinho's turgid style of football.

United fans will be annoyingly giddy this summer and probably increasely and unbearably arrogant as the season progresses.

So that'll be United's likely path....my concerns are what happens with us on the parallel track. We have a lot to do to improve on this squad of players and to develop a Plan B against the teams that know full well how to play against Pep's thoroughly predictable style of play.

I have to say that I'm more worried now than I was at any time since 2008. We've left our transitional period until the very last minute. It'll be near on miraculous if Pep succeeds in rectifying so much in such a short period.

Oh how I hope I'm wrong about all of that!

But Barca are in breach of their own rules mate? Especially with the Spanish economy, it can't continue

Yes you're right. It's an important game - in fact almost enough to warrant a specific thread of its own.

Can anyone explain how they have got to the assumption we are trying to sign Neymar?

There are many reasons mate, check some of my recent posts.

-Tolmie has suggested it
-Various reports from Barcelona that Neymar has a party lifestyle like Ronaldinho, got in to a bust up with a coach there, his dad urging him to step out of Messi's shadow and go to the PL
-Possibility of Sergio leaving
-Sergio & Messi are Best friends
-Neymar and G. Jesus are great friends, we have other Brazilians in the squad along with Ederson and Fabinho likely coming as well, maybe even Sandro.
-Barcelona need the money (if Kun goes the other way, they got a world class replacement and another 80-90m on top to use to replenish their squad.)
-Barcelona linked to various expensive targets despite not being in a strong financial position
-New Messi contract needs to get signed (I personally think that Messi could be asking for Kun to come as part of the negotiations)
-We are one of the very few clubs that can pay his fee and most likely one IMO from Real, PSG, Rags, maybe Chelsea
-There was apparently an offer last summer
-IanBishopsHaircut recently suggesting there is interest again this summer
-Neymar is the most marketable player in football, and buying him would a great investment and would grow the City brand exponentially.
-Pep really likes Neymar and was begging Bayern to buy him but got Mario Gotze instead.

We you really think about it, this deal makes a lot of sense for both sides but I still think its a long shot. Would be an absolute dream signing tho.

Seems like Coutinhos future is deeper in midfield playing a Xavi type role rather than the #10. Klopp has been experimenting with him there which worked well and suggested they'd do it more next season. It's the only way for him to get in the Brazil team so I think he'll be really keen.

Klopp won't allow it, especially not after losing his key players to Pep in Germany when he was the manager of Dortmund. On a side note, Barcelona wants the player too.

Core players are players who will get consistent playing and or bench time. Assuming the supposed 5 or 6 incoming guys are acquired, I sincerely doubt Garcia will see more much time outside of Cameos.

Garcia has been on the bench quite a bit this season, my point was Roberts could perhaps see the same. Squad depth, not necessarily played but there as a backup option.

And I picked 20 coz at 10 it seemed only Komps would have qualified. And that lookwd bad...

But pick 25 and suddenly some of our best players qualify. If the narrative is that City casually throw huge sums of money against the wall to see what sticks, ala the rags, then it's false. One window of being slightly less frugal won't change that policy.

Most of those reasons aren't really the case as to why we are discussing Neymar. More like this:
- Tolmie has named Neymar and his agent in hints before.
- IBH has previously stated we've been in on Neymar, which was backed up last summer by Mundo Deportivo (see below)
- Dario Gol reported Neymar Snr advised his son to go to the PL, specifically the rags, to get out from Messi's shadow. It is assumed City wouldn't let that happen.
- Neymar stated a year or so ago he'd like to play under Pep after hearing about him from Messi.

Remember I told you about the offer on the table?

Manchester City were willing to pay Neymar's release clause in the summer, but the Brazilian was happy in Barcelona. [Mundo Deportivo]

Wow! Cheers mate, that was a very detailed analysis. All sounds like something could be possible then?? So this would mean no sanczhez though as if Neymar comes in then we still have sane and sterling?

Ok you've stated the most concrete reasons. If Neymar comes, I would say its likely Sergio goes the other way, can't see us paying the 150m required outright.

Can we have a post scenario what will happen if they lose the Europa game.

I thought they'd win the Europa League for a good while as it's been obvious for months that there are no good teams left in it, but they did make life very difficult for themselves in their games against Anderlecht and Celta Vigo. I am sure that they will be the biggest spenders in the Summer, especially if they win the Europa League and get back in the Champions League but they wont do much whilst Mourinho is in charge.

Wow! Cheers mate, that was a very detailed analysis. All sounds like something could be possible then?? So this would mean no sanczhez though as if Neymar comes in then we still have sane and sterling?

I would say no Sanchez if Neymar comes. Its possible but this is all speculation right now. I am praying it happen tho! Would show we are really, really serious about trying to win both the league and Champions League. Neymar is probably the 3rd best player in the world right now.

Ok you've stated the most concrete reasons. If Neymar comes, I would say its likely Sergio goes the other way, can't see us paying the 150m required outright.

Kun isn't going to Barca.

If we get Neymar, it's because Blaugrana need the cash, plain and simple. They're financially up a creek without a paddle and have two major, unavoidable expenditures coming up:
1. Extend Messi or see him walk for free, pissing away the worlds best player and over £150m.
2. Bring in a new manager and give him the squad he wants, with new signings etc.

With Suarez, Barcelona don't even need Kun, but the only way they'll sell Neymar is for his record fee attached and no swap deals would be considered. Now, if you want to say City will sell Aguero to say, China, to fund Neymar, that's different. But it would only happen if Sergio requests it, he won't be pushed.
