not sure I buy that, it was public knowledge that our right backs were out of contract and were to be replaced. Not to mention we played a winger and a midfielder there instead the second half of the season.

Perhaps, perhaps not. We'll most likely never know- I wouldn't put it past Levy, though. I can't stand the whole premise around him being mr. billy big bollocks when it comes to transfer dealings, but its exactly the sort of tactic that he would use.

I've been very pro Walker all window, however, it comes to a point now with this situation where we need to look at it wisely considering our need for a CB as well. I would be doing everything to convince Fabinho to come and play as RB and then utilise Maffeo as backup. Dire straights, we have Fernandinho.

We could pick up Fabinho for ~£40m and he's younger and more versatile. I feel like the Fabinho ship has sailed, though.

We didnt release our fullbacks their contracts ended something that was common knowledge all last season. Levy didnt find out recently.

Right, but I still think we'll get him by the end of the summer. I was responding to a post which quoted Tolmie saying that two fullbacks have been signed, and was saying that rather than one being Fabinho, it was Walker and Mendy.

Put it this way. Anyone who is ITK fully regarding City is Pep, Ferran, Txiki, the Sheik, Khaldoon, and maybe half a dozen top lawyers and business execs. Trust me, none of them would bother leaking anything on here. So to answer your question, no we don't.
 
Oh I don't know - I'm KFA in all things as to this. But a free transfer for a 34 year-old FB and no consideration from our side of "pen to paper then holiday or we move on." Rather than just take this guy at his word that he'll sign and wait for him to come back and do so?

Or maybe Alves wasn't having such an ultimatum? Who knows - other than those in the room.

Can't really put a good spin on it. Obviously we wanted him. But the party line was all about how his "warrior mentality" outweighed issues of age and previous twatishness.

For me, chooses to go to PSG is just more or less the opposite of "warrior mentality" so good riddance.

Haha maybe. I just hope we get Mendy sorted, the rest will be worked out, but he's priority 1 in my mind. Whether we get Walker, Semedo, or anyone else on the right won't matter to me as long as Pep gives his blessing.
 
Jesus, why do people turn on the ITKs when stuff like this happens?

@Ric had been told that Laporte was signing as the bloody club were adamant he was and it came down to the player.

From the sounds of it, again the player has made a u turn. It doesn't mean that information passed on by any of the guys on here was false. It fucking happens.
 
I have a feeling this will cause Pep to be out for blood. He is reportedly livid with the outcome of Alves and I expected him to hold nothing back to now acquire the players he wants. Pep does not seem like the type of person you want to cross.

So maybe the question is why do we miss out on often what seem to be targets quite high up our list? I'm thinking back to rvp, de rossi, hazard, Sanchez originally, Isco, Pogba? I would have thought we are a very attractive proposition but other clubs still seem to get deals done once there is a serious link.
